Hi everyone. I got refusal for study visa yesterday and want to kindly ask your help about that. My profile;
Bachelor's in Business Administration with GPA of 3.92 out of 4.00
Language Test Duolingo 110 points ( I know its low and I will take 8 weeks of EAP course)
Age:32 Work Experience: over 8 years and currently working in governmental organisation as a specialist
Course: George Brown College Analytics for Business Decision Making (pgd 1 year)
Applied along with my spouse (TRV for her )
I am going to order gcms notes but the reasons with the refusal letter are:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence.
I have an allowance of 1 year based on laws of my country and I will not quit my job and my employer can not fire me within this period. I told about this in my SOP that I will return my current job and look for more managerial positions but one of rejection reasons is about limited employment prospects. How can this be a reason ? Strangely this reason is also given for my spouse's TRV refusal. what is wrong with my profile and how can I overcome this situation ? I appreciate all your answers. Thanks in advance..

My guess would be your choice of program and college is the problem here, going by the info you provided.

Bachelor's degree with great GPA, 8 years of relevant work experience and yet you choose to pursue a college PGD? The program doesn't even sound like a career-progressing program - " Analytics for Business Decision Making" - not sure how that could contribute to 8 years of working experience? Sounds like a course you'll take for 5 days just to horn your skills.

Also, your requiring to do an English course prior to starting your main program is a deterrent. I've seen lots of refusals for people applying with requirement for EAP.

You are also applying together with your spouse, so no solid home tie. People applying to colleges for PGD or diploma don't have much luck applying together with family - better chances if you were going for Masters or PhD in a public recognised university.

Sorry to sound harsh, but you probably would have had a better chance going for a Masters degree and providing proper English proficiency (like IELTS of nothing less than 6.5 in all modules) - that would increase your career potential.

There may be overlap between your degree and the course you selected. There is little reason to take this course as it is unlikely to result in career advancement. The course just doesn't justify leaving your job and spending a lot of money.

Thanks for your realistic and detailed reply. I did not realize that that colleges seems so bad in eyes of VOs. When I search for programs program seem to be goog fit for me because my employer is need of analysts who is a specialist like me. But now I started thinking of your proposal. I have problem with English especially lack of speaking practice so I thought an English program would be good to learn in a natural language environment. Will it be a problem to have low English scores on ielts if I can get admission to a relevant master’s or I will be ok with a public university’s master program ? This kind of replies are what I want to hear to make up my mind now. Thanks again.

Which country are you applying from? While IELTS is not required for most countries, it is recommended to take it and score minimum of 6 in each band. VO would like to see that you have a good command of the English language if you are going to be studying in Canada.

Thank you for your teply canuck78. As I said I have made bad decision on my program but couldnt realised it before the refusal. I thought that total 1 year program suits me more because I can get only a year allowance and may be two months more. After that time I will be fired directly and banned to turn back governmental positions for 3 years. That scared me and dragged me to those pgd programs. There are also people telling me to reapply with addressing refusal reason withot waiting for gcms notes and now I see that will just end up a quick second refusal only.

Would suggest waiting for GCMS notes. You must select a program that makes sense given your education and work experience but also would lead to career advancement. There has to be a good reason for you to leave a good stable job to relocate and pay high fees while there are good schools in Turkey

Just like canuck78 said from Turkey. I’ll try to score as much as possible of course but did some research even sone top quality schools offer students english courses if they think the applicant has strong case. This might help a bit to convice VO. Thanks.

My opinion is the same as yours. I have experiences on different areas and I hope to find a program to fit. There are some good schools but I can not move from a city to another one with my will. And I am nowhere near the cities where that good schools are located. Also I work shiftly like 24 hours work 48 hours rest and it sounds riculous to me to take a year of allowance to pursue master’s course(I think all of them longs 2 years) in my country. Thanks a lot mate.

That is not true.
Data Analytics is a new area of work that most people in business/finance in Canada are not familiar with (those who have been working 10+ years).
So people choosing business analytics courses are making a wise choice.
I have a friend, who has 20+ years experience plus an MBA and is coming to Canada to do a similar analytics course at diploma level --and he got his visa.

It is likely that the applicant in question is failing the test on financial means.

Lol analytics cannot be learned in 2 semesters of diploma level program. These type of courses are a joke

I dont know exactly how much time you need to learn analytics but there are similar masters program and I think the subject itself is not a problem, actually problem is type of school or course may be. I have far enough amount of savings for 10 months, actually according to government’s website it is enough for nearly 6 years. I dont know what to do right now. That was a real disappointment for us.
