You need to pay atleast half year fees of your college/university.

You are not required to pay any deposit unless its a requirement by the university. The canadian immigration does not require any payment re tuition fees.

Its compulsory so that VO thinks applicant has paid half the fees and has sufficient funds that will cover his tution and living in canada
