I am American and need no visa....but i applied by mail for a visa extension and it was received on Sep 19th but my visa stamp expires Nov 20 (in less then two months). had some questions regarding this:
1. How long till i hear from them for my visa extension?
2. If i dont hear anything from them before my visa stamp expires on nov 20...do i stay for three more months (or can i stay longer if i dont hear from them still) and wait for a response? or do i have to go back home? and if i go back home wont that ruin my inland spouse sponsorship application that i sent out as well?
3. What are the chances that my visa extension will be denied seeing that my visa stamp expires in less then two months? I have sent proof of everything they ask for as well as bank statements, and my payment receipt for my inland spouse sponsorship/pr application and a letter from my husband stating he will be taking care of me as well as a detailed letter explaining why i need an extension in regards to my spouse sponsorship being inland. But will my visa extension be refused if they dont get to my application before my visa stamp expires?

Havent heard anything from anyone. I know its only been 4 days but still i would just like to now.

Thanks to anyone who can ease my mind

1. Likely 3-4 months.
2. You can remain in Canada under implied status until they make a decision for the extension application.
3. Normally people don't apply this early for an extension (typically people apply a couple of weeks or a week before expiry), however you should be approved. Although if you apply inland then you should have included an open work permit with the inland application which would give you implied status and allow you to remain in Canada without having to file for a visitor visa extension.

hmm. for the last question 3..when i sent out my spouse sponsorship/pr application i didnt include a open work permit because i thought it was only to work (because of our specific christian beliefs i am a homemaker and dont work) so that is why i didnt include one. Is there anyway i can still apply for an open work permit still (even though i already sent out my spouse sponsorship/pr application?

You should have included an OWP along with the inland application - it was a mistake not to. This would have granted you implied status in Canada while your inland application was being process.

I'm not sure how you go about submitting one now. You need to post this question to the Family Sponsorship section of the forum.
