My mother’s Super Visa is expiring on October 18, 2025. She is returning to Pakistan on August 29, 2025. I am planning to apply for a Super Visa extension while she is still in Canada, as it might be easier. Her passport is valid for another 5 years.

If I start and submit the extension application (including medicals) before August 29, and later she receives a passport request, can she submit her passport from Pakistan for the visa sticker, or would that cause complications?

Alternatively, would it be better to wait until she returns to Pakistan and then apply for a new Super Visa from there? Appreciate all comments and recommendations.

Thanks!

When did she arrive to visit Canada with with her current supervisa and when was it issued? Any date written on her passport when she entered? How long has she been visiting?

You cannot extend a supervisa. You apply for a new one outside Canada. If she is leaving then she reapplies outside Canada.

It was issued August 1st 2019. She arrived in March 2020 and then went back in April 2021. She visited again in July 2024 and now going back this week.

Unless otherwise indicated she was actually granted a 5 year visit upon entry in 2024. A supervisa is an travel document and your visit length is independent of the expiry of the visa.

Should I wait for the permit to expire and start a fresh application when she is out of Canada?

It is not a permit it is a visa. Would personally suggest spending some time at home before reapplying given she just had a long visit to Canada. At least a few months given she has just spent a year visiting Canada. She is visiting Canada not visiting her home country where she is supposed to be her home base.

Appreciate the feedback. Another reason I want to extend her stay is that her PR application is currently in process, and we are awaiting medicals and biometrics. Extending her stay would allow these requirements to be completed here, which could help expedite the process. In this case, I would wait a few months before applying for another Super Visa, if needed. Thanks

You are getting confused again. Are you asking if she can just remain in Canada and cancel her flight? If no date was specified in her passport when she entered in 2024 she can continue to visit. Being in Canada may make PGP processing faster but that is not guaranteed.

If you want to extend her stay, then she shouldn't go back this week. She should stay inside. She entered in July 2024, she should be able to stay in Canada for couple more years. Visitor visa expiry is not the same as visitor status via entering with super visa. Make sure that she continue to have super visa private health insurance.
Alternatively, she should be able to re-enter before Oct 2025 with proof of health insurance.
