So I am planing to apply for PGWPP and I should get it for 3 years period. My student visa is going to expired last day in August next year. So my plan is to return to Canada a few days before my student visa has expired but with valid work permit. So does anyone know would I be able to enter in Canada without a problems or if nobody knows that answer is anybody know the number of immigration office in Canada that I can call and ask questions? Also if I apply in Canada for visitor visa with work permit how long does it take to have passport back? Thanks!

I am in the same situation-- expired TRV with work permit expiring in 2016.
I will be travelling to the US next week and was assured by CIC that I am good to
Re-enter Canada without a new TRV.
However what I would like to find out are the exact steps that I need to take to ensure
smooth re-entry.

1. For instance, at the airport, do I declare that my TRV I expired but my work permit is not? To whom do I declare this to? Also, do I actually have to request for re-entry at the airport ( will be flying) with a border officer so I could get the sticker? It is my understanding that airline companies won't allow you on the plane without this sticker that they stick onto your passport.

2. What other documents do I need to show besides my passport and work permit at both sides of the border?
Would truly appreciate some insight from people who have actually gone through this. Thanks!

Hi All,

As per the latest information from Canada Border information services (CBSA), you can re-enter Canada after visiting US only if you are travelling with your personal vehicle.
However, it might not be that smooth and you might have to go through some extra investigation.

You will not be allowed to board any Bus, Cruise, Airplane, Rail or any public transport if your Canadian Visa is expired.

I want to travel to US (my friend will be driving us), but my Canada TRV is expired. After following the discussion, I understand that I can re-enter Canada with my valid work-permit. I do want to ask if getting a US B2 visa will be difficult (applying from Canada) if my Canada TRV is expired, or it doesn't affect getting a US visa at all??

I have an open work permit and a re-entry visa that expires on March 5th. I am, going with my employer to Mexico. We are returning on March 5th at 6:30 pm, the day my re entry visa expires. Will I be allowed to come back into Canada? Do I have until midnight to do so on that day?

I renewed my passport and my TRV (multiple entries) is still valid in my previous passport (canceled).
Can I travel with both passports without problems?
