Visa delay in Nigeria

Does anyone know why it takes solo long to process study permit in Nigeria?
Submitted my application on 31 August 2012 and up till now I have not heard anything from the embassy and my programme in Concordia University begins in January 2013..
Any advise or suggestions?

i got a mail on 8th january 2013 to pick my docs before 15/01/2013 for an application i filed on 28th august 2012. pls check your spam mail. and ofcourse it was unfavourable.

The posted processing time for 80% of Study Permits at Lagos, is 19 weeks.
