Visa changes required for changing program which has a different duration

Hi all, i have my visa approved for a 1 year course which is starting september 2020, if i wanted to change to a new course which has a course duration of 2 years should i apply for a new visa or should i have to make a change in my existing visa.. also generally a proof of fund is required to be shown when applying visa for a program of 2 years duration so i am not sure if i have to submit proof of funds while Changing the visa.. i couldnt find any threads related to my query.. it would be great if someone could help me out
