Hi everyone,

Just wondering if the extended family includes Sibling's family(spouse and kid)?I am sibling of Canadian Permanent resident and want to visit my brother with my 5 year old kid and husband.
Me and my husband already have the Visa but we need to get Visa for my son. Do we need to submit the IMM 0006 form along with the VISA application?

Thanks

Yes, You will need IMM0006 for getting Visa for you son. and Even for your travel.

My Case is my sister is Canadian, My Kid and I have Valid Visit visa. But still we need IMM0006 and Authorization letter from IRCC. I have sent sent email to IRCC will all the docs needed on 13th Nov. Awaiting response from them.

Travel is still only allowed for essential reasons which is why siblings are allowed but not the sibling's family.

It is not explicitly mentioned tat the Extended Family members dependents are not allowed to travel in the above given links. Moreover, my Kid can quality as Extended family (Grandchild of Non dependent Children) as my Dad is a PR holder. In this case should i be submitting another IMM0006 form form my dad? again request for another written authorization?

Appreciate any help on this as my travel is on 30th Nov. this was booked way back in Aug/Sep.

You and your child are under the extended family rule. The OP’s family are not and it is explicit. The government would post that brother-in-laws or nieces and nephews are part of extended families and they do not. When filling out the forms for you and your son, what family member completed the forms? If you only applied 3 days ago, you may not get a response by the 30th.

Thanks!! But my Daughter will still need authorization right? Bcoz she doesn't qualify as Immediate family member?

An immediate family member is defined as a

I have read through this forum multiple times. but no where it is mentioned that Dependents (Child) of the person who has immediate family is allowed to enter canada or not.

Right. Sorry you both need authorization (Getting âges mixed up). it gets so confusing! From the link.

If your relationship is with a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada’s Indian Act or permanent resident, you must be

  • in an exclusive dating relationship, have been in the relationship for at least 1 year and have spent time in the physical presence of that person at some point during the relationship
  • a non-dependent child (adult child)
  • a grandchild (dependent child of a non-dependent adult child)
  • a sibling, half-sibling or step-sibling
  • a grandparent
So your child needs authorization via your father.

I just got the approval. But the Approval email contains only my name/Passport Number/UCI number. they did not mention anything about my Daughter.

Even though i have mentioned that my Kid will be travelling along with me. Should i consider that email itself would suffice for both of our travel?

I believe your daughter needs authorization to travel under her passport number. Just because you have approval doesn’t mean she does. Didyou apply through your sister or father as family members. If applied through your sister, your daughter doesn’t meet the criteria of extended family. Her application would be refused. You have to complete authorization through your father as your daughter meets the criteria as extended family.
