Got a love letter from CIC,

"IMPORTANT: You are required to undergo the medical examinations within 60 days of the date of this
letter. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application."

Got the 2nd medical request today because the 1st one has expired. Some news is good I guess. This one however will cost us money.

Does anyone know if IOM will help delivery this second medical report request to the Singapore office? On the first E-medical, I attached that with my sporsorhip application form.

Thanks for the infomation. Small progression at this point, so we're feeling hopeful.

How is your family adjusting to the new life in Canada? Since they arrived in the summer time, don't mention to them about our winter.
They will be in for a surprise. :p

It has not been very exciting watching paint dry over a year, but we’ve got some progress. A bit of life and forward movement is happening to our sponsorship application….finally!

A few days after we got our 2nd medical request, our online status is now showing IN PROCESS. A week later, we got a package mail delivered to our house with all our photos and stuff back from the CIC, along with the request for police criminal certificate, IMM5669, immigration photos and passport. We have to complete all of these forms in 60 days, seems we are inching closer and closer to the finishing line.

I have questions for you thanh245 or anyone who can answer this.

Our letter did not indicate that a biometrics was required to complete the application form since we are applying for a permanent resident visa. The biometrics requirement does not seem to applied to us, is this assumption correct? There is a lot of literature posted on the CVAC website, the interpretation of messages is not very clear to me. Just want to double check with some of you guys who has been to this stage. Thanks again in advance.

“As of December 11, 2013, Vietnamese citizens between the ages of 14 and 79 must give their biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) when applying for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit. This new requirement affects citizens of 29 countries and 1 territory. “

Hey guys. Great news on your timeline. Mine however not that great. I just received my gcms notes and they said that the RPRF outstanding fees but I never received a mail nor an email requesting that I lay this and also my tax income says exempted. What does that even mean. Do you guys know what I should do now?

This was the breakdown of the fees that we paid at the beginning of the application process.

Sponsorship application (per application) $75.00
Principal applicant $475.00
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00

“2. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee, which will be requested by CIC at a later stage if your application is approved.
Note. We strongly recommend paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee along with your processing fees. By doing so, it will reduce the processing time of your application.”

After reading this part and not wanting to get caught in any of the delays, we paid for everything at the beginning. A matter of fact, we over paid $75, it was return to us a month later. If you didn’t pay for the “Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00” at the beginning, it’s not a bad idea to pay CIC first and ask questions later. 30 months Singapore processing time is a long time for me!

I am not sure what you meant by “my tax income says exempted”.

Do you mean “necessary income exempted”? If this is the case, it just means you have the necessary financial means to look after this person once they arrived in Canada.

To begin with, spouses from Vietnam should never do medical exams in advance. That is not required to apply, and that will not expedite the process. 99.99% of cases will not be finalized within one year from medical date. People are misled by IOM staff because medical exam is one line of their business.

I call this the Medical instructions options game:

You may either:

• undergo an upfront medical examination by contacting a Panel Physician

Note: When medical results are submitted up-front, routine cases benefit from faster processing since we do not have to request them at a later date. If you choose to have an upfront medical exam, you must submit proof that you completed the medical examination with your application. Failure to do so may result in processing delays.

OR

• wait until your application is reviewed and medical instructions are provided to you by the immigration office.

Note: *Optional: proof of completion of the upfront medical examination from the panel physician (if you do not hold a valid medical Report, instructions will be given to you when you receive your notice of eligibility

I could not agree with you more civic that medical examination is a business for IOM and a rig game played by both sides of the bureaucratic party. I still think that one should pay the $120 USD to pee some warm beer into a cup and strip down for the panel doctor to watch.

Processing times are calculated from the date the application is received by the Singapore visa office. Singapore has a 30 month processing time. To me, 30 month is a very long bus ride!!

While I understand that some applications, owing to their complexity can take longer to process than others. If your application is not complex, I suggest paying everything up front to reduce the chance of any delay is worth the $120. Like I said early, it's a rig game. You won't win in a rig game. You might as well pay up and play along. Buying a $120 processing lottery ticket with the hope that your application will be done before the medical report expires is worth relieving some of the stress and anxiety of the wait time.

A very common theme this week it seems. We received 2 brokenhearted love letter from CIC yesterday.

First letter tells us we have an interview. Second letter tells us they are returning our passport.

“This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. Upon further review, you are now on our interview list. Our next contact with you will be to advise you of the time, date and location of your interview. Please wait to hear from us.
Please be advised that applications which require interview fall outside normal processing standards. The current queue for an interview is approximately 24 months.
While your application is awaiting interview, we will not accept, respond to, or attach to your file any correspondence, except: change of address or contact information, including change of e-mail address; change of immigration representative; change of marital status or family composition; request for withdrawal of your application.
We will return your original passport(s) via Canadian Visa Application Centre. Please wait to hear from them for collection.”

After one year of waiting, our file finally goes into processing. CIC request for 2nd medical test, and 2nd police certificate report. 3 months later they put us on an interview queue, when they could have made this request 1 year ago! It is such a waste of our time and money!

I am very angry with CIC! Too angry that word can't even describe. My blood just boiled when I think about the 1 year of our lives wasted at the hands of CIC officer #$% @ ^ @ @ $%. Our lives are now on hold for another 24 month while we sit and wait for our PR to be finalized. On the bright note, ;D it's nice to know my hard working tax dollar is at work at CIC.

While I am still in rage, I am putting together a letter to my local MP and The Honourable Chris Alexander, P.C., M.P to see what sort of circus show these boyz are running in Ottawa.

I think your situation is in the clear. You are on 3rd base running home. :) You got your visitor visa, so there is nothing to worry about at this point.
When I spoke with you the last time, we were also planning to apply for a visitor visa. We didn't end up pursuing it because a few weeks later they requested for our passport, 2nd medical and 2nd police certificate.
It more of a delay tactic for these people to keep their job given the fact that there is cut back coming down the line from the fed!
What's very upsetting is the fact that there is nothing new in the paper work that these people (CIC) needs and that don't have on file about us! They are only short of not having our personal sex video.
What is troubling is the fact they are making people do all this and still ask for an interview. It will be nice to have an answer from the clowns in Ottawa why they are making this 2nd request a year later and not directly ask for an interview sooner. The information which we gave them is just a copy of the same original information in which we sent a year ago on the sponsorship application. Only the date is different and the immigration photo that shows an extra winkle.

I welcome the interview, but not the 24 months wait for one! I personally like to give a piece of my mind to these interview clowns who holding our lives at hostage right now!
