Well, today my husband got the request for his passport! We are both absolutely floored!! It literally took 3.5 months since the application was received in Mississauga. I can't even describe how speechless I am!

Anyhow, meanwhile, both his and my status on ECAS show "In Progress", but I'm not too worried about that.

Just to confirm with everyone, request for the passport pretty much means he will be getting the PR, right? Anyone ever heard of refusals after this point in the process for any reason? Or interview requests after the passport request?

Hope everyone's year is off to a good start, and hope we will all be living it up with our spouses soon! :D

Congrats ElaBella! That was a quick process, I hope Vienna will continue that trend!

My CIC account just changed from "in process" to "decision made". ;D I am guessing my common law partner has been approved with her PR? What is the next step? Are we waiting for COPR to be delivered via snail mail?

Congrats!
I've seen others get COPR in a couple of weeks after DM through mail. I think you need to sign for it.

File transfer to Vienna on 09/22/2015
Medicals received line added on 10/14/2015. They were submitted upfront.
Decision Made 01/09/2016

Currently waiting on COPR. My partner comes from a visa exempt country.

By looking at your timeline. You are next in line. Wish you all the best

Thank you. I really hope so :)

Great to join this thread! I live in Germany.. sent our application off Dec 24th 2015 for me to sponsor my common-law boyfriend. It was received on Jan 4th 2016.. Now the waiting game! ::)

akrstic4 - Congrats! What do you mean a visa exempt country? Does that help with processing speed or is that unrelated to the application?

Another question.. how/where do I get the login info to sign into CIC to check my status? Will that eventually come on a document from CIC or something?

Thanks!

VISA exempt apps do not require passport request to issue visa. You just get COPR papers through post. This step for requires a few extra weeks I believe.
Once you have sponsor approval (SA) you will receive file # and ID#
You can log in to ecas on Cic Check my application page.

Best wishes for fast processing

Hi. Thank you. In case if your boyfriend comes from a visa exempt country you don't have to send in his passport for visa stamping. You just get COPR via regular mail. There is no passport request, so it basically speeds up the whole process. Once you get COPR you have to leave Canada (in case if you are inside the country) and go through immigration as a landed immigrant. That pretty much sums it up. All the best.

Hi everyone,

Today I found a 4th line being added to our online CIC profile.
I don't know if it's good or bad but at least it means Vienna as worked on our file.
The line reads:
"We sent you correspondence on January 5, 2016. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required"
My partner is from a visa-exempt country. Our application has been in Vienna since mid September.

Any clues if this is a good sign?
Does this type of correspondence is sent via post office or email?
it's the 10th of January and I haven't heard from our lawyer whether he has received anything via email.

Thanks so much!

I'd call lawyer quick. If you specified email communication it should send this way.
The faster you respond the better.

Thank you Cansk!
I have already sent our lawyer an urgent email as I know this is time-sensitive.
I hope he replies soon - most likely until Monday 11th.
best wishes to all of you still waiting for DM!
