It's wonderful to hear all the good news, Tom, Milan, Vanessa. I remember in Dec 2012 and Spring 2013, most people who applied from within Canada, had seen DM and then got letters informing them of decision, COPR and the instructions for applying for PR card.

I have wonderful news to share as well.
My family and I have finally arrived to Vancouver. Last night we were all at our home together.
It was one of the happiest days in our lives. Wonderful feelings, meeting with family and friends today, we are all tired as it all happened so fast over the last 5 days, from PPR to landing, but we are loving it.
And an amazing feeling of FREEDOM to be where you want to be and with your family.

We are happy for all of you who are getting good news and we cheer for the rest of you.

Warm greetings from Vancouver! :)
Welcome to Canada. Enjoy your new life here :)

My wife called this morning and has her medical on the 30th. She told me the doctor asked us to email some number? Has anyone else that had to redo a medical send or give them your file number or uci number ahead of time?

Also i checked e-cas today just curious and it changed to in process and that they starting processing april 17, 2014. Hahahahaha 1 year 1 month 3 days after applying. Does that mean when they ask for additional documents they haven't even started yet?
Yaay this is what they did to us too
Same first asked for additional proof and them changed to in process after they got it
And then asked for more
Im glad she got an appointment set :)) soon she will be here with you
Also the number they asked for she wouldnt have it if her medical expired
My husband didnt have it either
But if the medical was still valid i guess then she would have a number
Just tell her to bring the email she got from vienna and thats all ;)))
This is great everyone is getting good news from vienna :))) yaaay

Hi there

You are not alone, but the black hole of communication with CIC can sure make you feel that way right!

I'm a PR in Canada and we're doing Outbound via Vienna for my German husband.

We applied in Jan 2013 and have been 'in process' since this January. They lost some medical reports (!!) so they had to be resent from Vancouver but this was back in Jan and since then silence. Anyone any ideas how long this part of the journey is taking in Vienna right now?

Patient best wishes to you!

First welcome to the forum.
Second...wow i feel for you. Thats everyones nightmare to have any part of your app lost because of their mistakes. As far as how long it takes after second medical really varies. Most recent cases from this forum have been 1-2 months but some like yourself have waited longer with no word from Vienna. Its really hard to have a "complete" application when they have taken so long and almost all of us have had to redo meds or obtain new police certificates and it just delays everything. How much do they stick to the "que" and which officer works on your file.
Have you contacted your mp or requested gmcs notes?
Stay strong and hopefully you will get good news soon

Here in Greece we have a saying that goes like this! "We ate the donkey now only the tail remains " aaahahahaha
You cant just give up now..You came to the spring you must kneel down and get a sip of fresh water

I know and understand how heavy these months were on you and the wife.. But soon all these will be only a bad memory (except of course the wonderful people you have met here)

Be patient amigo, it will soon be over...!

I don't know anything about that, maybe other members do. :) Hey, dear, did your husband called VAC in Belgrade again, about forwarding passport to Vienna? :)

It depends on where you are from and where you are going. Find more info here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/after-transportation-driving.asp

I know dealing with the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario isn't too bad. A lot of offices, wait times not too bad (unless you are downtown Toronto), and when you get a Canadian licence they give you a paper one right away that you can use with valid photo ID until you get a card in the mail.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi BumpAhead... No a international License in not needed. All you need is your driver's license and write a test here and you should be able to get it in a few weeks. Im speaking on behalf of Ontario Ministry. Hope that helps :)

I looked up from info for Ontario since that is where we will be living and found out that you can use the following as ID:

Permanent Resident (PR) Card
Record of Landing (IMM 1000)
Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292) accompanied by a valid passport from country of origin

When you move to Ontario, you can use a valid licence from another province, state or country for 60 days. After 60 days, you need to switch to an Ontario driver’s licence.

You can exchange an out-of-province licence for an Ontario licence, if you are re-locating from: Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Isle of Man, Japan, Northern Ireland, Korea, Switzerland

More info:
