Unless they request another medical I wouldnt do it on your own. Like Tom said its over 200 eu. I found a post on this forum from 2011/12 not sure exactly when but if your application is in process within the first 15 months from the time they recieve it, they can extend it for another year. Im pretty sure it was along those lines. But as i see alot of people have had to redo medicals. My guess is that the country they are from is high risk for hep or maybe their process was delayed for so long that it went passed the initial 15 months.
Hi Milan, kako si?

It's not only the money although it is a big factor for us. In order for my wife to go and do again these meds she has to travel more than 200 km x 2 and all this for what?
We did what we were supposed to do in the beginning. Days before we sent our apps we did the med and Vienna is supposed to finish our apps on time. So they can do this favor to all of us and do not request a new medical.

Dobro sam :) i dont know any Greek but a couple of swear words :) and how are you? My trip is has almost come to an end and once again i have to leave my wife. 3 months just flew by. Lots of tears this past week knowing that i will be leaving. But i told her be fortunate that i was able to come for this long and others havent seen their spouses for over a year. It was my first time being here for the holidays and it was special.

Just a couple of years ago they did have a doctor in Nis that did medicals but now its only in Belgrade so my wife will have to travel 3 hrs by bus each direction i think its about 500km round trip. I know what you mean. I keep thinking to myself we are almost done but after gmcs notes i was really disappointed. By some EU rules im not aloud back for 6 months because i stayed the 90 days including my 3 weeks in june. Last time i looked serbia wasnt part of the eu. If we survive this then i know we can survive anything.

Hi Milance,
you are right about the 15 months for the medical. Here is the link to the operational manual for expired medicals (although it says it's an expired manual).
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob423.asp
Looks like I am out of luck as the 15 months for my husband's meds was a month ago...this is seriously crazy. I really don't know what they are doing this long... makes me MAD!!!!!
So once they request the new medical (and god knows when that's going to be)... we are looking at adding another 2 months to the wait time. So much for the 13 months processing time.

Hi Milan.

I am surprised that you guys do not have dual citizenship. This would have solved the issue of you remaining in your father's country.
Serbia is not in EU definitely .I wonder why they told you this. Hope you have a safe return back in Canada and tell your wife to be strong!

Hello Nada,
If they have started or working on your process they might have extended your medical. Our 15 month would be in Feb. who knows....

Hello Tom,

My parents came to Canada in the early 70's when it was still Yugo. They did put my hometown as my dads village but those documents are not recognized. We never looked into getting citizenship. And there aren't many advantages of having a Serbian passport lol.

For those like me who are wondering if you should do a new medical near the end of expiration of the old one without actually being asked from Vienna.

I wrote this letter to Sweden (I am sure you all remember her) and it goes like this

Dear XXXXX hello and Happy New Year.
BTW. Spaska's Medicals must expire on Jan 31 because she did them on the same day last year.
Do we have to wait until they notify us? I sent them an email last week inquiring of the same but so far no answer. (We need to do another medical just like we need to have a vasectomy ) :)
Do you think they might check out the progress of our file and maybe would not request a new medical and probably extend the existing one?

I don't know what to thing of this Vienna. It seems really weird and funny that they are so silent with all of us in the forum!

My best for you and your husband

Tom

And here is her answer

Dear Tom,

for Spaska's medicals - yes, you would have to wait. If they decide to extend them, they won't inform you - they will just ask for an extension and the only way to know that it has been extended is when they ask for her passport without asking for a re-med...

If they don't extend it, then they will ask you for a re-med, which is usually a good sign that the end is near. In that case you will be sent a letter/email to take to the panel physician, explaining what to take with you, and what part of the medicals you would need to do - either partial, or complete re-med. So - no point in doing it in advance, as it would mess up the system more than anything else...

Hope the end is near!
take care,

So do not make it hard on your self. Stay calm and wait...Maybe it is to your benefit

Regards

Tom

In response to the issue if the medicals, I just want to say that I agree that people should not jump the gun and redo the medical. We can all agree that each case represented here is unique and we obviously do not know the ins and outs of anyone's application. No case is exactly like another. My husband and I made a choice that we felt would be best for US. No regrets! We have now heard from Vienna and are moving on with the next steps as per their request. I appreciate the advice from Sweden but if redoing this medical "messed up the system" for us then we are definitely glad we did it. Again, educate yourselves and make the best decision possible for your individual case. Good luck to everyone!
