Hey people, me again with the questions... :)
OK here it is: I'll be entering Canada as a tourist, and we'll get married when we get the date. Do you think it might be a problem later in the process because immigration might say I lied and the reason for visiting Canada wasn't touristic, but to get married?! Do you think we should wait a while with the wedding?
I have a friend who just went thorugh American imm and she warned me about this. Her lawyer advised her to wait a while (60-90 days after entering the states). I know they have different rules about this, but still...
Help! Thanks again!! ;D

Well when I went to europe to get married.. at the airport when they asked the purpose of my trip.. I said "Visiting Family" it's a broad term.. and you are not lying.. but I understand your concern.

@ Frida
When you are able to prove that your relationship is genuine and real, proof of living together, e-mails, phone calls, joint bank accounts, both names on a lease....etc.etc. for a year, then there should be no problems or suspicions from immigration. People get married, out of love, and you guys have to proof that. Good luck

Landing: Soon, I'm already in Canada, I gave up waiting two weeks ago, I bought a flight ticket and I am here, happy with my husband. Three days after my landing COPR was issued. Well, I could be more patient :)

Hoping the best for all Vienna applicants!!!

Hi allia_s

Can i ask you what you told at the imm officer when you entered Canada?
I am thinking of doing the same, i believe the visa is very near now but i am very nervous that the officer won't let me in Canada. i am from a visa exempt country in europe and i am scared that if i say i wish to wait out the visa in canada with my partner he won't let me in as i have already resigned from my job.
Any advices?

thanks ;) and cobgrays on your visa

It shouldn't matter as that's what we did. He never told the visa officer in Serbia his intentions. Only going for a visit. But he did tell her that for sure he would return because he didn't want to mess up his chances of marrying me in the future.

Actually, we got married 3 days after he entered. Well, his flight was delayed a few days because of a huge snowstorm. And we needed to get married before my niece did. (I always told her that!) As long as you can document your relationship well, and show that your marriage is unique I really don't think you should worry.

Thank you so much.
I'm having all this questions running around in my head because my departure is coming soon etc.

@Tam1979, @dbaltov, @mazinamaza88, @gost, @Sunshine12345, ppl, is there any improvement, any news???????

Just yesterday I sent to Vienna ARC letter with proof of fee payment for the same (previously failed refugee claim...). This is what Vienna requested for a couple of week ago, but I also sent my passport (by advice of my council) though I did not get ppr yet. I dont know how much time now VO will need to process the ARC fee payment and new medical too since I had to redo it because the old one has expired back in February!? So now just wait again!!

well i had mishap with ROPRF too, I guess they have it now, I have to wait till Apr. 06. and then I can email them and ask. They told me in AOR letter not to email them before 3 months have passed :(

@macbook: I was very, very nervous too, thinking the same, “Omg they won’t let me in”… just stressed out about this all process. I had a strategy: to be concise, clear and apt and to choose the most sympathetic officer ;) What is purpose of your stay? Visit. The officer asked me who am I visiting and I told my husband. And when he heard that he was really very friendly. He asked me if I am applying for PR and I told yes. I think he can see it on his screen. He asked me few more questions and then he wished me good luck and fast process. So Don’t worry it will be fine. Good luck!

so the custom officer never sent you to immigration at the airport based on the fact that they can see that you applied for PR?

They sent me to immigration last time but they let me in.

I emailed Vienna and asked them status of my application and after a month they replied to me that they don't know when it'll be processed. i also asked them about visiting my spouse and they told me as PR applicant from visa exempt country that it all depends on immigration officer on port of entry... so since my spouse has no time off, we really aren't sure what to do. The tardiness of the process in exhausting and I wish I would have sponsored my spouse to move to Europe instead. ..

In my caips notes printed from February 1st they still haven't even started background or security checks on me.

to Smokovnitsa and all of you who i do not have in our spreadsheet, if you would like to be added to our spreadsheet, please give me your timeline so i can do that. This way we can see more clearly how fast Vienna office is working. Thanks .

@ lucky rain
I just arrived from Vienna. You can add in spreadsheet, visa received March 20th. :)

Procedure was the same as described before by other members so I won't repeat it. It was fast and painless. Drop of in the morning 8:30-10:00 am and pick up in the afternoon 14:00-15:00. All in all I spent two fantastic days in Vienna.
I've seen that you've been busy around here and I'll join you tomorrow in discussion. Now, I'm off to get some rest. :)
