little_apple applied in April 2013 and her application was processed in 11 months. It does not necessarily mean that every application takes 17 months. That's all I said. Of course it can affect us. I still think we should stay positive instead of being negative and assume everything will take 3 months longer than expected.

.. keeping calm is a little difficult.. maybe easy for some people to say who are form visa exempt countries and can visit their spouse and be together at any time while waiting for PR.. but it is not the same if you spouse is basically banned from even visiting you :S/
.. this is HELL..

I had a deeper look into the statistics. The processing time for Spouses, Partners, Children and Others are as following:#

20% of all cases are processed within 8 months
30% of all cases are processed within 10 months
50% of all cases are processed within 12 months
70% of all cases are processed within 15 months
80% of all cases are processed within 17 months

This data can be reviewed here: http://data.gc.ca/data/en/dataset/427337d0-7c36-4fed-8428-c6a63f8c19b3

Interestingly enough they had 80 less spousal cases and 113 less overall family class applications than last year but their processing went up by 5 months.. that's 1/5 less cases and almost 1/3 more time required to complete LESS FILES! lol something is not adding up..

To me the numbers add up.

Spousal applications received by Vienna:

2009: 469
2010: 467
2011: 603
2012: 820
2013: 700
2014: 84 (Jan-Mar)

Spousal applications processed by Vienna:

2009: 470
2010: 511
2011: 448
2012: 544
2013: 523
2014: 136 (Jan-Mar)

Vienna is able to process 450-550 applications per year. However in 2012 and 2013 they received way more applications than in all the years before. Therefore they have to deal with a backlog.

Data about received and processed applications can be found here: http://data.gc.ca/data/en/dataset/fd6f93ed-6249-42a4-ac30-5a1a7aa48389

This was not the same link you originally posted :p the first one did now show these numbers .. Though the numbers do make more sense it is still unacceptable and there should be an organized response by the government for the increase influx of applications.. as a gov employee we often have increased demands on our programs.. when this happens citizens do not suffer the consequences.. there is always re-allocation of resources and priorities are shifted. I do not understand it at all.. and looking deeper into total applications received ( in all cases) there is not a significant increase..anyways no point in analyzing it.. i do see that they approved approx 5500 spousal applications in the last 4 months which is promising. If it continues like this it would make a total of 22000 for the year which is much higher than previous years(16000-18000). hopefully waiting times won't be as bad as they appear.

thanks for sharing all of this :)

You are right. I was really lucky because I didn't have a very "strong" application (moved together after 10 days, and applied after exactly 12 months living together) and received my COPR under 12 months.

But 17 months is really ridiculous. Seriously, it is not fair to all of you. Vienna processes European countries not countries with a huge amount of fake marriages. I feel really bad for everybody who has to wait more than 12 months. And I think that even 12 moths is way too long. CIC really has to change something here

You are completely right, I just submitted my application recently so I still got a long way to go, but looking at the stats where other areas in Europe like Paris having 2,177 applications processed in 8 months, London with 1,729 in 11 months (both at 80%), Vienna taking 17 months is very disappointing.
