Hello everybody, me and my husband are also going through Vienna. On February 14th it will already be 1 year that they have our application. I recently got the gcms notes and next to criminality chech and eligibility check it says "not started". I am getting depressed. Does anyone have an idea how much longer it can take? My husband wasn't in any war or anything he was just going through the mandatory millitary service. We are both from Slovakia. My next question would be, as a sponsor and Canadian citizen can I go to Canada to look for a job and wait until my husband gets his PR and then joins me? I appreciate all your help! Thanks a lot!!! seriously now. Never been to Alberta (although is where i am going) but have lived in Toronto for many years and i remember altjhough it did not get to the extreme lows but the cold and the dampness was unbearable!
I hear that Albertan winters although colder in minus temps they are dry and humidity factor is very low...

It's very dry in Calgary. Sometimes as dry as in the Sahara desert. So in the beginning it could be that your skin suffers a lot, cracks etc. It happened to me and many others. But the cold doesn't feel as bad as in humid air so that's a plus.

We get many cold days but usually not much snow. Except this winter.
We had, I think, 3 weeks of wind chill -38/-40 since December but the average temperature is about -15. Not too bad. And after wind chill -40 -15 feel like summer ;-) Lots of blue sky though. Over 300 days per year

Of course you can. That's actually the case for many of us. Many of our spouses or partners are already in Canada working and waiting for us to join them.
