Hey everyone!!!

I'm in the Vienna pool as well. I feel completely and utterly LOST lol. I've been trying to catch up on previous threads but it's quite a lot to take in so i'll just post a quick recap of my case:

Raised in NYC nearly my entire life. Left NYC (to Croatia) had NO idea I couldn't return home. Spent 5 horrific years in the balkans, ran away to Canada the moment the borders were opened to Cro citizens.
Applied for refugee status, and due to a #$%^ shady lawyer, (and a horrific judge) I was denied my refugee status. Just under a year later I got married to my absolutely awesome husband <3, and as we were slowly gathering the documents to apply for spousal sponsorship, BAM, I was (im)politely kicked the heck out, back to Cro, where I am alone and alienated. So, this time i have a good lawyer, I've filled out the application and collected just shy of 500 pictures (have fun, officers!!!) and about 20 letters from friends and fam in the States and Canada (because, those are the only two countries i truly know and have people in).

So, two questions:
1) Has anyone been in a similar situation? Exiled refugee who was told by CIC officials that 'you will be fine and home soon' if you apply for spousal sponsorship OUTSIDE Canada?
2) Are 500+ pictures, plans to have a REAL wedding ceremony and 20+ letters enough 'evidence' for them? Or do i need to pull rabbits out of Wonderland for this one?

Did I lose you guys? Sorry. That's as simple as I can put it. =/

THANK YOU ALL for ANY help or words of wisdom you can offer!!!

Hello and welcome to Vienna thread b4roness

Unfortunately I cannot advice you as I have never been in a situation like this (refugee claimant) but I am sure if you post your queries into the Family Class Sponsorship main thread here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/family-class-sponsorship-b5.0/ or the General - All Canadian Immigration thread : http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/general-all-canadian-immigration-b13.0/ I am sure there would be many people with similar experiences to offer advice and possibly guide you.

As for supplying 500+ photos I think this is a very large amount of photos to sent and I don't believe that by producing such a huge number of photos will actually help you. Try to select photos in a timeline manner proving CIC that your relationship is genuine! Anything from a 100 to 200 photos is considered practical.
To have a real wedding just to prove CIC your relationship can sometimes have the opposite effect if it is done in a very near to applying time! You need to prove to them that your relationship has history - endurance and future! Also you must prove to them that you had a common cohabitation for at least a year before your application.
Letters and testimonies from family and friends is a must. Let them write the testimony for you do not dictate to them what you want. Two of these letters must be notarized. Try also to collect post cards from friends abroad
Stick around here and I am sure you will get more help from some of our good friends

I wish you the best of luck and hope to you a quick process
Tom

So my question is I never got anything from Vienna directly confirming they received the transfer from Mississauga (no email, letter, etc)

IS THIS A PROBLEM?

My assumption is this is called the AOR stage 2? I am just wondering, based on the spreadsheets, why everyone else gets it a few weeks later...and mine has been 4 MONTHS without any confirmation from Vienna.

Does AOR stage 2 indicate when your e-status changes under permanent residency change from "In Process" to "Received".....I dont have the exact date for this change...

I have the letter from CIC saying they sent to Vienna on Feb 14....but nothing else.

I sent an inquiry to Vienna yesterday to see if I could get any response to help.

As you can see, none of us in 2013, with the exception of one person, has gotten a confirmation from Vienna. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hello everybody! As we are in the process of doing all of the the paperwork for a spousal PR, I thought I might introduce myself in this thread as we will be spending quite some time here, I suspect ;)

I'm Maarten, I am from the Netherlands and in a engaged to my Canadian girl. A little back story: We were good friends on-line for years before we actually met in person, but when we finally did (New Year's 2011/2012) we unexpectedly fell in love. :) We did almost a year of flying back and forth, visiting a week or so each 4-6 weeks, but got sick of that quite quickly. After a failed attempt to get my girlfriend here for a few months (she couldn't get unpaid time off from work), we decided that I would move to Canada earlier than anticipated (December 2012 in stead of April 2013).

After Christmas I moved in with her in Montréal, after a very nervous pass through the border (no job, no house, and visiting my girlfriend? Red flags everywhere, but no hard questions asked this time :D). When it finally opened, I applied for a working permit in the Working Holiday Program, so I could stay longer than 6 months and am allowed to work. Early May we visited the Netherlands a bit, and after a little trip to Paris where I proposed, we went back to Canada and activated my WP.

In July we are getting married (Only 2,5 months after the proposal, but this was more convenient for us and my family due to the summer holidays) and after that we're moving to Ottawa. We're hoping to send the application as soon as we receive the marriage certificate. Hopefully it is all done before my WP expires, but otherwise I'll apply for another IEC-based work-permit.

Anyway, these forums have been very helpful so far! Not only for the PR application process, but also all the information about visiting Canada repeatedly, and the IEC process.

Hi Tom!

Thank you for the info, I'll look at those links in a few minutes. I was told by various people to provide as many photos as possible. And oddly enough, of the 500+, maybe a good 100 or so are just of random stuff, it's just insane to go through them all. They are in a perfect, coherent timeline order.
Sorry if i didn't make myself too clear in regards to our wedding. We can't have a wedding now since I can't get to Canada yet lol. I was in the process of planning the entire wedding which was supposed to take place this year, but alas, in the middle of all that, I got kicked out. So, we are legally married, have been over a year now. But I can't plan a wedding that will take place in Canada from here, since I have no idea when I will be getting back. I thought that this would logically present a positive outlook for ANYONE in this situation (aka forced to remove oneself from Canada in the middle of planning the actual ceremony, despite being legally married via city hall already). Can you clarify how they will see this situation now that I explained it better? Again, soooo sorry if i wasn't too clear. I'm a bit jumpy all week and trying to process way too much info from many sides.

(In short: We are legally married via city hall. Started to plan the 'BIG' wedding aka banquet hall, dress, roughly 220-250 guests.... oy... but 3 months after we got married in city hall i was told i had to leave or file for sponsorship before the removal date in order to legally stay in Canada. Couldn't file within 30 days, impossible.... i'm a former U.S. resident so i needed clearance from them too and all that jazz... hope this info helps.)

Glad to see that Vienna isn't affected by the strikes (or at least that's what i read... its 2am , i coulda read it wrong lol)

Thanks!!!

Angie

thanks for adding me. I'm already in the April 2013 spreadsheet but thanks for telling me.
I keep you updated but my application has been sent to Vienna two weeks ago. I'll have to wait a long time for any updates ;-)

Good day willis

From our February thread so far only one member has got an AOR from Vienna so I assume that you are from January.
Nothing for the rest of us. AS you can see from the spreadsheet Vienna in 2012 had a good record in sending AOR's. I believe things are backed up in that VO thus the delay in sending AOR if at all!
What does your E-cas saying?
Mine is still in the Mississauga state of mind like : Applications received. Medicals received etc.

Good news indeed! I was kinda expecting they were striking too, esp. with the delay of the AORs and lack or replies on e-mails. But we're still far from sending the application (planning wedding, spending time on the PR, finding a job AND a move, all in the same month ....... ugh), so I shouldn't stress about that just yet ;)
