I am scheduled for my test on December 13th - and it takes place in Victoria!
Fantastic, eh? The dreadful wait is finally over...

Actually the 8-9 months start when they transfer the file to the local office ...

How do you know your file has been transferred? Have you called and asked or it's in your timeline?

Below is my timeline, I was living in Victoria, sent my documents to Sydney, Nova Scotia. Then changed my current address to Toronto (Well, it's my friend's address as I'm living in South America (Chile) now to finish a research job. I actually need to visit Canada sometime this year but am afraid what if a month after I return to Chile they ask me for the test and then I should go to Canada again, too much uncertainty, too much money, too little time )

We received your application for Canadian citizenship on April 4, 2011.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on April 4, 2011.

We started processing your application on April 20, 2012.

I am in Richmond and here is my status update

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on August 16, 2011.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on August 16, 2011. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on June 1, 2012.

Not so sure when I will be getting a mail indicating the test date.
I noticed that it will be fast if you don’t change your address while your application is being processed. My friend and I submitted at about the same time, hot got the mail to take the test 3 months ago. Meanwhile, I changed my address from Vancouver to Richmond…..the process continues.

What is the possible reason for the delay process from changing the address? Any clues?
I applied in November 2011 and moved from Vancouver to Richmond in June 2012, e-status is still "recieved"

Hey your situation is the same as mine. I think CIC has divisions that are responsible for certain geographic areas. For example, a division would take all applications in Vancouver and other would take ones in Richmond, Surrey...etc.

I think my application was processed under Vancouver when I first submitted it then got transfered to Richmond division...back to the pile....

What do you think?

There are no division offices. There is a citizenship office in Vancouver and there is one Surrey and that is it for BC.

Maybe transfer from Vancouver office to Surrey office? I was wondering if Surrey would process applications from Richmond.

I moved from Vancouver to Richmond shortly before my application showed in process last August. It has not delayed my process at all, got my test date after two months of "in process" in October 2012 in Vancouver, so there's no transfer to the Surrey center that I can tell.

Hi all, I applied in November 2011 and received my letter and booklet shortly afterwards, but I still can't access e-CAS. I spoke to someone at the call centre who said my application was still in Sydney, NS and that e-CAS wouldn't be accessible until it was transferred over to Vancouver. This seems different from everyone else's experience - can anyone shed any light on this?

My test was on October 30 2012. I haven't heard anything since, but they told us it was a three to five months wait after the test, so I'm not really holding my breath.
