Hello All,

We have to do the landing in Canada by Mid Jan. I am the primary applicant and for some reason, my wife and my 5 yr old daughter wouldn't be able to land before January. So what happens to her PR and is there anyway that I can apply a dependent visa or something similar to bring her at a later time?

Would that allow her to work as well???

Please advise it is VERY URGENT.

Thanks.

If your dependents cannot land before the expiry of their visas, you must sponsor them from scratch once they are ready to immigrate. You will have to complete a new application form, they will have to do medicals again, background and security checks, pay new fees, etc. This process can take anywhere from a few months to a few years depending on their country of origin. Since you are a PR, you will have to be living in Canada when you submit the application to sponsor them and will have to continue living in Canada while their application is being processed until they are approved (you can take trips of a few weeks outside of Canada - but not return to spend months or live back in your home country). It is also quite possible that your dependents may not be granted a visitor visa to come and visit you while the application is being processed. So it's possible you may be separated from them for a few years.

The best option is to have them travel to Canada and land before their PR visas expired.

Scylla is right.
But I would say don't even have another thought, if you have Canada in mind for the future, just make
the trip with the family, take the chance even if u didn't have the money to show...

Else, forget Canada, do not try to come to Canada and try to sponsor family later... it would be really painful...

@sycilia & cprak0 : Thanks a lot for your quick response and greatly appreciate your time to reply my query.
