Very urgent help/advice required (expiring work permit and passport)

Hi,
I just came to renew my passport at indian passport office BLS.
I came across that the information on their website was not up to date and at their office they told me that the processing time are longer now.
My current work permit is expiring on 21 June. Also my application under CEC is in process and I got my medical done 2 days ago and I just sent my passport for renewal. I was hoping that it would arrive before my work permit is expiring bit it will take longer than that and by them my wit permit will be expired. My current passport is still valid until August.

I can apply for bridge extention with my current passport and they might issue it for couple months according to the validity of my passport. Or I could wait for new passport and risk my work permit to expire and then apply bridge extention after expired work permit. I am not sure if there is any option available after work permit is expired. So I need everyone's advice here.

You cannot apply for a BOWP with an expired work permit.

To be eligible for a bridging open work permit, the applicants must:

Currently be in Canada;
Have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within 4 months;
Have received confirmation from CIC that their permanent resident application is eligible under one of the four Economic Classes (FSWP, CEC, PNP and FSTP), and;
Have made an application for an open work permit.

From your timelines, I am not sure you will land as PR by 21st of June. How long would it take to renew your passport?

If possible to apply through Tatkal scheme you can apply and get it in a week. But it mentioned only for re-issue

If not possible,another option is apply for BOWP using your present passport and mean time you apply for passport renewal. Mostly you'll get your passport before August, who knows you might have for your PR on that time. If not, you can again apply for work permit extension.

Thank you so much. I think this is the best option for me in this case. I can wait until June 20 and if my new passport doesn't arrive by then I will apply for BOWP with old passport.

You can apply for your second bowp. They are considered on a case by case basis but at least it gives you more time in the country and it allows you to work in the country. Do this before your existing work permit expires.
