Very strange thing has happened - Request for payment of RPRF‏

Hi,

I applied for PR under CEC back in 2014, and received the rejection letter last April (April 2015). The rejection email said. (I quote)
"Following an examination of your application, I am not satisfied that you meet the requirements of the Act and Regulations for the reasons explained above. I am therefore refusing your application."

So, I changed and selected a different route for PR. Then just an hour ago, I received an email from CIC, which is not a spam. The sender id has been saved on my safe list..
Anyway, this RPRF letter says (I quote):

This is in reference to your application for a permanent resident visa, which has been found eligible in the Class for which it was submitted. Admissibility review (security, criminality and/or medical) is still ongoing; you will be contacted if additional information is required for that purpose.

Do you think this email is CIC's mistake? The letter says I hve to pay within 30 days.. I've called them several times already but the line is busy, as usual.

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I'm assuming it's just a mass e-mail that got sent out to everyone on their list. Just like the RCMP request.
If you don't even have a file in processes why would they even ask you for RPRF. It doesn't add up. definitely don't pay anything without confirming with them.

Thank you for writing for my case. My confusion arose from the fact that the CIC already sent me its rejection email last year. They said I did not satisfy the CEC requirements.. Then now they say they've found my PR application eligible in that category.. I don't know what is going on with them..

Does anyone noticed, and have opinions on GCMS code in their RPRF emails? What's that supposed to mean? It looks to me that CIC forgot to put a code there.

The RPRF will be refunded if the application is refused, if you withdraw your application or if you choose not to use your visa.

i received the same email today. it seems legit if you applied for your pr using a different route maybe that was accepeted..

when i go to pay the fees it says i need to register first.. do you think i can register with any email or the one thats on the file. as i dont remember the passpord for that one lol

Mine has the same highlighted line about the GMCS notes.

I am August 25th, 2014 applicant. Haven't done medicals and did not pay upfront. Haven't even tried to call CIC, I guess it's impossible right now.

We'll wait and see what happens.

Hi, I am the one who posted this question.

I've just spoken with the CIC agent by phone and she verified that the Ottawa office made a mistake to send the email (request for payment of RPRF) to almost everyone, including the ones already closed. So, yes, the email was legitimate CIC email but it was a mistake.
