1) You DON'T need to fill and prepare form IMM5444E by yourself. Once you landed at Vancouver International Airport, you will be guided to Landed Immigrant Queue, they will check your COPR, and they will get your signature on PR Card form (IMM5444E). You can give your friend's local address at Immigration counter (for landed immigrants) for PR card delivery. It is not advisable that your friend send it

There is no reason a friend can not mail/courier PR card to the applicant. *Many* people do this.

2) When I landed in 2013, I had to go to service Canada (though I landed at afternoon time) as that time SIN registration service was not available at airport, But now I have heard that it is readily available 24/7 at airports for landed immigrants. Anyways, once you land, you can check with immigration officer at counter. If it is available then get it registered or else visit nearest service Canada office very next day. SIN card is very important as PR card is. Usually it takes 7-10 days minimum to receive SIN card so I am not sure if you will receive it before your departure or not...TIPS :- Take the address of nearest service Canada office where you will be staying.

A) Service Canada (SIN card application) doesn't have an office at Vancouver international airport. B) SIN cards are no longer issued (haven't been for a while). SIN number is given on the spot at moment of application.

Good luck with your landing.

Hi Seniors,

I am a bit confused about Universal child care benefit and Canada child tax benefit? Can anyone share your thoughts regarding the difference of this two terms?

Good day. Really thanks a lot for valuable information and really appreciate it.

Regarding about the bank, which bank do you recommend? Yes, now I am reading the driving book for knowledge test. Thanks for all of your information.

You can give your friend's local address at Immigration counter (for landed immigrants) for PR card delivery. It is not advisable that your friend send it back to you through courier. But still, I know few people have done it in past successfully. Better to make arrangements that someone give you PR by personally where you are residing. Anyways, check your best options...

2) When I landed in 2013, I had to go to service Canada (though I landed at afternoon time) as that time SIN registration service was not available at airport, But now I have heard that it is readily available 24/7 at airports for landed immigrants. 3) Driving Knowledge test fee is $15.00 per attempt. You have been driving since 2006, so you better be applying for CLASS 5 driving test (Full driving license with NO restrictions). Once you pass knowledge test, only then they will take your vision test. You visit driving institute (ICBC), take your TWO identity documents having your pictures (SINGLE IDENTITY DOCUMENT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE) so take passport, previous Driving license or any other Government issued identification. No need for appointment. Just take your identity documents, and tell them you need to take knowledge test; you will be required to present your previous ORIGINAL driving license ( atleast 2 year old) and identity documents. You MUST tell them that you will be applying for CLASS 5 DRIVING TEST. With your previous driving license you will be allowed to drive or if you have internal driving license for 3 months period. Once you pass knowledge test, and booking for road test then you will have to surrender your previous driving license.. Knowledge test is valid for 1 year. To get road test date, sometimes it takes time; weeks or months.

4) No need to apply for MSP now as this is your short trip. Once you are coming back for permanent, then apply for MSP. Yes, there is 3 months waiting period, apply in February when you will be moving for good. For this trip, if you are concerned, you can check for travel health insurances ( I didn't)

5) I don't know about electrical and electronic engineer regulations and license procedure, so cant advise you on this. Sorry for this.

6) Yes, POF is fine; I will advise you to open bank account, the very next day of your landing. Above, we already have discussed about various banking options, so check this. Over $10,000 CAD, you need to declare at customs. You will be given a declaration card, you MUST declare it. Prepare Goods to follow list also.

I don't know , what else you are missing or you require more information, but feel free to ask anything you have in your mind; you can post in here or message me, or you can call me anytime before or after landing, should you require any further information.

Good Luck with your plans.

Last but Not Least:-
Prepare for ICBC driving Knowledge test, if you have time and planning to take it during this trip. Check below the manual;

They are 2 completely different benefits. UCCB is taxable, CCTB isn't. Depending on your income you may be eligible for one or both. You should apply for both as soon as you are eligible; then each year when you do your income tax return, CRA will automatically recalculate/adjust the amounts you receive.

There are various options; Scotia Bank, TD, CIBC, RBC etc... You can visit each banking website and see the account plan and whatever suits you, go for it.. For my part, I have account with TD bank and I am satisfied with it...

For 3 person u need to show minimum 18500 CAD Approximately and its better to take at least this much amount of money along with u..

Now the question is How do u carry 18500 CAD? -As per Bangladesh Bank Rule- An Adult can endorse 5000USD & 2000USD Equivalent to Other Currency [Euro,GBp,Cad,AUD] and Your child will be able to endorse 2500USD & 1000 USD Equivalent to Other currency.

As per my calculation 5000$=6300 CAD,2000$=2500CAD. So an Adult will be able to endorse/carry around 8800 CAD legally and your child will be able to carry 2500$=3100 CAD & 1000$=1250 CAD, Total 4350 CAD.

My Calculation presumes Total 3 persons, You can endorse/carry 21950CAD [Which solves your pof Issue]

I don't think there will be any problem if you carry all USD.

Hi v_i_r_u_s.. you are doing good work here....
+1 for you. :)

But I guess there would be a small problem carrying USD instead of CAD. You will need to convert it and whenever we convert currencies there is always a small fee involved. Even banks will charge a small amount when converting.
