Validity of Police Clearance Certificate

Can anyone tell me form where to get police clearance certificate (PCC) for canada as i am currently in canada.

can we get it from Toronto police

I was in UK for 6 years. Now I'm in my home country and I did applied for UK pcc straight after I left the country. My question is: To apply for canada do I need to apply for UK pcc again as its over 3 months (but I didn't went back to UK again so the report will be same) or the report I have will be fine.
Pls suggest the needful...

1. As long as you haven't returned to the UK and the PCC was issued after you left there, you don't require a new PCC.

With all due respect to everybody, Please read the FAQs on your countries Canadian Consulate Web-Sites respectively. This is from my country of residents web-site. The rules are almost all the same. Don't assume.

How long is my police clearance certificate valid?

Your police clearance certificate is valid for a period of one year from the date it was issued. If the validity has expired before your visa is issued you will be requested to provide an updated police certificate from the country you are currently living in. If you have already submitted police certificates from other countries where you have not recently lived you will not have to provide an update.

How do I obtain a police certificate?

I have lived in several different countries. Do I have to provide a police clearance certificate from each one?

You will need to provide police clearance certificates from each country you have lived in for a period of more then 6 months since the age of 18.

Just read your post, it is very informative...for the point below, can you share any source of information as this is really troubling me alot...I also need to get a PCC from Qatar, and don't plan to visit that country again in near future, so probably the PCC should not expire..however, i am told that the PCC certificate will read it to say valid for 6 months only.

Is that for all the countries the individual lived in or only the current place of residence?
I submitted 4 PCC`s. 3 with a one year validity from previous places I lived in issued more than 3 months prior to the date of submission, but they are still valid. The 4th PCC was issued from my current place of residence a couple of days before submission and had a three months validity which expired last week.

I got my AOR 3 months ago. Passed my Medical but my BGC has not yet started and theyll send me a message when it start...Finger crossed I dont have to submit new PCC for all countries as this will set me back another month and a half.

You are quoting a post from 2009. Rules have changed since then, a few times.

1) IRCC determines for themselves what they consider valid. Completely irrelevant what the PCC says as a validity period.

2) For countries where you no longer live, the PCC must have been issued AFTER you left the country. If you return, even for one day, you need a new PCC.

The 4th PCC was issued from my current place of residence a couple of days before submission and had a three months validity which expired last week.

For current country of residence, the PCC cannot be older than 6 months at the time you submit your eAPR.

I guess I need to resubmit 2 new PCC if not 3. Two for places I lived in the past and visited recently before submission and one from my current place of residence.
I have submitted my full application 3 months ago and haven't yet heard back from CIC. Do you recon I apply for the new PCC now or wait till they ask for them? and is there a chance they reject the application on the basis of this term ((For countries where you no longer live, the PCC must have been issued AFTER you left the country. If you return, even for one day, you need a new PCC))?

I checked the link but the last paragraph highlighted in red only mention that if you went back to Live not Visit, then you need to get a new PCC. I understand the logic but in my case I travel to these two places every two weeks... I hope term one applies since all my PCCs were issued less than 6 months before applying..

You may need a police certificate from any country or territory that you have spent six months or more since the age of 18.

For example: if you visited, worked or lived in a country for two months, left for a few years, then returned for four months, that counts as spending six months there. In this case, you would need a certificate.

If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:

• are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
• have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory.

The second point applies when the PCC is issued more than 6 month ago. So, if your PCC is still within the 6 months period at the time of application submission, you are fine regardless. Good Luck!

As for the distinction between "lived" and "visited" - semantically I agree with you, however the way that IRCC applies the rule (aggregate amount of time in a country, even if you just visit and do not establish residence) suggests that that is not a distinction they make. But it is always a good idea to include a letter of explanation, if you feel it will help clarify the situation.

As for whether IRCC will accept the PCCs you submitted - I agree with noscaf2014 - if they were less than 6 months old at the time of application, they should be accepted. I can't tell based on your description above ("more than 3 months"). it is all based on the date you submit your application, they do not "expire" during processing (unless for some reason processing takes more than a year, IRCC sometimes will ask for new PCCs then).
