Hi BobbyB
Could you give me the link to the official site where it says that your police certificate only has to be issued 3 months before submission from the country you currently reside in (UK in my case). I have been looking for it and have not found it.
It would be quite helpful to be 100% sure about it cos that way I could start requesting my US police certificates already.

"When you submit the application to the visa office please ensure that your certificates were not issued more than three months before you submitted your application to the CIO". (New rules for new applicants)

According to my understanding, for old applicants, after we submitted our application, we could start collecting our PCC's. However, the CIC may request for an updated version of the country you currently reside in.

I am not going to argue about this any longer, At the end of the day everybody would be responsible for him or herself anyway.

When I applied this was what was on the CIC London's Website.

police clearances are usually valid for 1 year, but for CIC purposes its 3 months when submitted to the visa office.
they may even require you to submit new PCC later before your application is approved

This is again another version and is not true.
I lived in Nigeria f0r 20 Years. I received the PCC about 2 Months ago and it states valid for 3 Months.
This a country I left in 1989 and have never ever gone back for anything nor visited, ever since I left.
So tell me what will be the need or reason for them to ask me to get a newer version.? What would have changed?
However, I am currently resident in UK, If for any reason, I had submitted a PCC or got one that is older than 3 Months, CIC may ask and should actually ask me to get a new one, Why, because who knows, whether I have broken the Law in the mean time or done anything against the Law. This of course will show now on my new PCC. That makes sense to me.

if you have submitted valid PCC from Nigeria and have not return to the country, then they have no reason to ask for a new PCC because clearly you cant break any laws without being there!
if you're living in UK now, then they may ask you for a new PCC from UK later on.

But how does CIC know that you have never been back? Do you really think that they are going to peruse every passport that you have had? Do you think that they will take your word for it?

Why do we fill all those forms stating where we have lived?
Why do they conduct their own checks and searches?
Why do they want a full history of an applicant?.....

they do background check. they may not know everything about you, but they can always deny your application if they find out later that you have given them wrong information.
but once you are in canada, they wont care how many warrants of arrest you have in your previous country of residence as long as you dont break any laws in canada.

Why would you want to give them any wrong information? If you do not have anything to hide and do not have any skeletons in your cupboard, then you have nothing to fear.

Guys just to answer your question here is my scenerio.

I'm currently living in the middle east for the past 3 years, and prior to this I was residing in pakistan for 2 years. Before i left pakistan i got a police report since i knew at some point in time I would apply for PR for canada. I have never been back to pak.

Scenerio:

Applied Sydeny Feb 2009, got Aor March 2009
Sent full set of documents April 09
Ecas status changed to "Visa office review complete and started processing on june 12"

Got a letter for a new updated police report from Pakistan on June 16, given 60 days to submit new report.

So regardless of whether you have not been back to the country or not, when you submitt your police reports make sure that it is a valid police report from all countries you lived in past, and present.

And yes I did write a cover letter explaining that i have not been back to pakistan after i got the old pcc from pak.

Police clearance certificates must have been issued within the last 6 months to be considered
valid.

Without prejudice, with all the happenings, For a country like Pakistan, what do you think?

Again,
Here is the proof that it differs from country to country as regards the PCC. Just found this on this forum.

This is for Pakistani applicants ( Checklist Document):
Valid Police Clearance Certificates issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police of your district
for you, your spouse and all dependents above the age of 18 years. Police certificates should be
provided for each of you for each jurisdiction in which you have lived since your 18th birthday.

Police clearance certificates must have been issued within the last 6 months to be considered
valid.

You provided a 2 Year Old Certificate. Even that does not fulfill the initial requirement, "Police certificate must not be more than 3 months old when you submit your application"

As per EG7.pdf Page 19, what I understand that PCC not more than old of 3 months before submit your application to CIO whereas no need to submit this certificate with your initial application, once your application is recommended for further process then it would be submit to your local visa office.

Senior pls comments.
