Dear all,

I have a really urgent question for you guys.

I have finally finished curating and compiling the documents for my spousal sponsorship application. What I thought would have taken a month to do took me 4 months to put together. I wanted to give it the best effort as my spouse is from a low-approval country (India).

Now that I'm one step away from sending it off to CIC, another issue has cropped up - my spouse's police clearance certificate is 11 days away from expiring (I'm counting 6 months as its validity). I'm pretty sure I can send it off in 3 days' time but would that mean I run the risk of being requested for a new police clearance? I'm worried about having the processing time be super delayed as a result. We are considering getting a new one before submitting the package but the process of obtaining one is notoriously convoluted where my spouse is from.

What should I do guys?

It's better if you get new one.

PCC is valid for a year, and they almost never ask for a renewed one unless you have to face an interview. You can go ahead and send in your application with the current PCC, no issues.

Are you sure?
depending on the country of residence they will always ask for a renewal of police clearance when processing the file.

Yes, my VO is New Delhi (India).
Another thing the OP can do is - send in the application so that atleast the sponsor approval process starts, the spouse in India can apply for a new PCC in about a month's time, and send it to NDVO when they receive the AOR2 two months after CIC receives their application. They'll just need to be sure that the addresses in both the PCCs are the same.
Although, for New Delhi applicants atleast, the PCC is valid for a year.

Additional information - At the time of applying, your PCC should not be more than 6 months old.

If you're sure CIC will receive your application within 11 days then you should go ahead and apply.

Priya I am facing same issue. Basically I was residence of UAE until March 2015 and forget to get latest PCC I only have from 2014.
Can I apply with that ?because I didn't get new until I visit UAAE

Hey, the CIC website says that if you've lived in a country for more than 6 months, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country. From this I would infer that you'll need a PCC that certifies that you lived in UAE at so and so address till March 2015 and there was nothing criminal against you. Why don't you check if there is an option for applying online for a PCC from UAE? That way you won't have to spend money on travel again.

Thank you Priya! I will go ahead and submit the application.
One more question, I'm unable to locate the address of NDVO, any clue?

VishalPriya has helped you with that :)
Just to make it clear, you have to send your application to CIC Mississauga.

Then I think you should apply with the one you have and you should also send the email from the UAE ministry and explain the situation in a cover letter to CIC.
I'm not sure if it'll work but I don't think you have another option.

Right, the entire application will go to CIC Mississauga but the new police clearance certificate can be sent directly to NDVO?

Yup, the entire application plus the current PCC has to to be sent to Mississauga. When your spouse's file is transferred to New Delhi, he'll receive an email from the New Delhi office to submit a PCC if one it hasn't been submitted already. Then you can send in the new PCC.
