Immigration officers take into account the cultural practices of the countries that the applicant and sponsor are from. Just make sure you give other things- proof of visits, letters sworn before a commissioner for taking oaths about your relationship from family and friends who know you are together, other pictures and so on.
I wouldn't get the MP involved until you know there are problems. You could also gather further proof in preparation for an interview. If they are suspicious, they will ask you questions about your wife that you wouldn't be able to answer if you weren't in a relationship. You'll be fine.
