Hi Members,

Please help with my urgent question.

My PR card will expire on March 28st 2015. I landed on March 7 2013. I have been in Canada for 8 months. I went back to my country for family issue on November 11/2013. I have booked ticket to come back to Vancouver on November 30/2013.
Please let me know should I have any issue at the airport when I come back to Vancouver. Should I use my exempt visa passport or my PR card.
thank you,
Steve

1. PR Cards are usually issued for 5 years from landing date so one of your dates is wrong i.e. PR Card should be expiring some time in 2018 if you landed in 2013. How did you get your PR?

2. YVR (Vancouver International) has automated entrance gates for Canadian Citizens/ PR Card holders so use your PR Card - the border agent at the end of the gates may still refer you to Secondary inspection. You must present your PR Card too as proof of status given you are using commercial transportation if the gates are not working or you wish to deal with an agent in person. Referral to Secondary won't be an issue as you have enough time to meet the Residence Obligation.

Hi Msafari,

I first landed on March 28 2010 so my PR card expires on March 28/2015.

When I landed on March 5 2013, I still have 2 years and 23 days. After 8 months, in Calgary (I got a job but could not do it) i have to go home for family issue on Nov 15 2013. I coming back on Nov 30 2013 so I have used extra 15 days outside of Canada that why I am nervous when coming back.
I will come back to Toronto not Calgary as last time.
Please advise if I will get any questions at the airport, should I use my visa exempt passport or my Indian passport with PR card.
thank you,
Steve
