Hi , I am a Ph.D. student in the USA. I am eligible for express entry. I entered the USA on H4 visa and have never crossed the border after getting F1 visa. Planning to move to Canada after I finishing my Ph.D.

Please help me with the questions below:
  1. Can I enter Canada (travel internationally) using the permanent resident card from Canada?
  2. Is there a wait time to travel internationally?
  3. What happens to my student visa after getting permanent residency?

Thanks!

1. Yes. A Canadian PR card gives you unrestricted entry to Canada
2. Wait time for what? You can enter Canada once you have your CoPR
3. US student visa is not associated with a Canadian PR.

Hi,
If you changed your status from H1 to F1 and you exit USA t. I believe that you will have to get F1 stamped to re-enter USA if you have not done so before. Your H4 status is invalid if your are on a F1 visa. Please also talk with your school's DSO.
