Hi,

We receive our GCMS notes and my common law must get police certificate ftom USA since she worked there on internship. I was reading CIC and they say on their website that she must get one from FBI...and it may take 16-18 weeks.

Is there any shorter and easier way to get those? Or we must wait that long?

Do we have to let VO know that we are are going to wait that long or that or therr is no timeframe for our application? We applied and received AOR in April?

We live in Edmonton, would there be an option to go to USA embassy in Calgary to get it?

Don't worry!

Even though it says 16-18 weeks you will mostly get it in a month's time. It took exactly 30 days for me to get mine so you should be good.

Thanks!

What is the procedure, we go to local police station ask for fingerprints and then send it to States or there is just some application form?

I had to get one for my application as well. And I can also confirm that it only took about a month to a month and half for them to process and mail it to back to me.

I followed the process on this website: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks/submitting-an-identity-history-summary-request-to-the-fbi

The local police station should have the US fingerprint form for you as well.

Can you please let me know the approximate date when you applied for this? I've heard that the process is taking longer from Nov 2014 onwards. I applied on 1st December and am yet to get any reply. Even my credit card has not been charged yet.

Our fingerprints were received on October 26th and our credit card was just recently charged (last week). It really does take 14-16 weeks now - anyone saying otherwise is either using a third party (not allowed by CIC) or applied earlier in the year for their clearance certificate.

Potentially, if you are US Citizen or resident, you can get your fingerprints done electronically (in the USA), but it's not valid for anyone else. So just visiting the USA won't work.

Submit your FBI application ASAP, and get delivery confirmation, to have proof that you have applied. If you don't get the certificates before your deadline, inform CIC that you have applied (give your proof), and let them know you are still waiting, and will send the FBI cert as soon as you get it.

But do not simply ignore your CIC deadline. Communicate with CIC and let them know what's going on. If you fail to contact CIC before the deadline, your application will likely be refused.
