US Police Clearance: FBI Processing Times

Hi, has anyone contacted the fbi offices this week to see where they are? I've applied from Toronto and sent in the fingerprints Feb 18th.

I called them last week on May 3rd. They said they were processing applications from Feb 16. Your credit card should have been charged last week..and if not then this week for sure.

Thanks much! No charge yet, but expect that my prints arrived around Feb 22.

I contacted the customer service today i.e. May 9th 2016. They informed me that they are opening the applications from Feb. 19th 2016 as of today.

I sent mine in on February 1 and received it today so I would say a couple of weeks for you. I'm in Toronto as well. Gl

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received my FBI today in the mail after all of the issues that I had of not getting them in time!!
I had to send a fax with some of my info and a small paragraph basically saying when it was that i had sent them over initially and how many weeks i had been waiting for them. It took a total of one week to get them in the mail !! (Inside the USA)

And do NOT stress or get paranoid!! I sent only one fingerprint card at first and it was perfectly readable but if you have a gut feeling just send another one with two fingerprint cards.

So, at this point I don't even remember when I sent my prints (I think early February), but I've had issues with the payment form - had to resubmit it twice. Most recent payment form was received May 4th and they told me my prints would get bumped to the back of the line. Well, yesterday they charged my card!!!

If anyone else has had to resubmit a payment form, then you may not have to get put at the back of the line again!

Honestly, if I had it to do over again, I would have just sent a cashier's check.

After postal delays, my prints were received on February 25th and the card was charged yesterday! Hope this helps folks plan.

The FBI just received my prints on the 11th. I still have such a long wait. Thanks for updating us, everyone! It's nice to have some reference to how long I still have before receiving anything.

Just letting everyone know, it looks like the CIC is accepting FBI background checks by 3rd party channelers again: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

This really irritates me because it took 18 weeks for my FBI background check to be processed and I didn't get it until 20 weeks.

Oh man!! That is irritating!! I've had lots of issues with the payment forms, this would have been much easier! I wonder if CIC changed their minds because so many of us are waiting on FBI checks and it's backing things up...

Who knows. Channeler reports usually have more security features anyways. The one directly from the FBI is printed on plain paper with no real security features.

I had had the same email the last week, also in this email with the requirement the passport photos(you too?) but my email told me very clear that they want FBI police certificates directly from fbi.

'Note: We do not accept FBI police certificates issued by FBI-approved third party private companies. Only police certificates issued directly by the FBI will be accepted. The FBI will send you a letter with the results of their record check. That letter will be your police certificate. You should send the letter and any attached documents to our office by replying to this email.'

Ours doesn't say that. I wonder if your letter was sent just before they changed their policy...again. My email says:

"· Please send us scanned version of the requested document.
· Please note that we can only accept unzipped PDF, JPG or .doc files that are attached to an email, totaling less than 5 MB."

I still think it's so weird they only want the scanned!
