US Police Clearance: FBI Processing Times

I am curious if you received your FBI report yet. Our time lines are about the same but my credit card hasn't been charged yet! ???

just spoke with someone from the FBI today 11:00 am Chicago Time

They told me they are opening request they received on March 21st.

Our application will likely be severely delayed because of the back log the FBI has and CICs inability to accept third party FBI Identity History Summaries.

I mailed my prints off on April 14, so it probably took another week to arrive after that. This really sucks. Everything else in my application is completed; I will be angry with myself if not doing this sooner causes any delays in approval. I had no idea it would take so long or I would have!!

Does this mean you sent in your app without the police check? I just did that and am wondering how it went for other people who did the same.

I sent my app in January 2015 without the FBI check. I included a letter explaining that I had submitted my prints in November 2014, but still waiting. I got my FBI check 2 days after SA and sent it immediately to Ottawa (Beginning of April). I just got the GCMS notes a couple of weeks ago and it shows that they received the report and attached it to my file. Absolutely no problems.

Yup. Applied in early February and mailed my prints off mid-April. I also didn't do my medicals upfront, and I see on ECAS they received my results so there was no issue with that being "late," as well. I had no trouble with SA, so we'll see if the FBI holds up the second phase of the application.

This post is making me worried :S My wife and I only ordered 1 FBI fingerprints check so if that is lost we will be in for a long wait. We are January applicants so don't expect an answer until around Oct or later but should we go ahead and order more fingerprints now just in case?

Also, is a police certificate different from the FBI fingerprints check? We have sent both but I'm worried the police certificate will expire... Can anybody share some info on this?

When you say that you sent the FBI fingerprints "a few months later"...does that mean that you actually sent an FBI fingerprint card (FD-258) with your fingerprints to CIC? If so...that was a mistake. They don't need your fingerprints, but the FBI does to run the report that you then send to CIC.

Sorry, what I meant was the FBI check completed that the FBI sent back to us after a long wait.

Ok, when you say "police certificate" did you mean one issues by a state or city police? Because the police certificate that CIC wants generally is only the one issued by the FBI, which is what you send your fingerprints to WV for.
