Yeah, I hadn't even thought of an MP situation (nor until last week did I know what it meant) until it was mentioned here. I'm going to wait... if say another 3-4 weeks pass with not even an AOR, I will though.

At least now you have all the info, i talked to my MP's office to get their feedback etc... I am still in contact with them and it's great i guess it depends on everyone!

We submitted our application mid-August and my husband's visitor stay expires Oct 18. We'll be filing an extension to be received by Sep 18 as they recommend. Any pointers about how we can have a successful application in our situation? He is living here and although we will emphasize his ability to re-start his work in the US and that he is just "visiting" the reality is that he doesn't have a job or residence there any more. Do people who've applied for spousal PR routinely get refused visitor extensions? I'd appreciate input on this.

It's hard to say, it really depends on the Border Officer. Take all your application paperwork and just be honest. That's all I can suggest. My husband came up in October 2011 and managed to cross without getting a visitor permit. We applied in March and went back to the Border in April. They gave him a 6 mth Visitor Permit. It's important to give an address of where he lives in the US, maybe a friend or relative. That would be the only little white lie, I would suggest. We were very lucky that we had an Officer who wanted to help us... but again it's luck of the draw.

Which border crossing would you be going to?

There is no reason why you would want to go to a border to apply for an extension. For $75 bucks you can apply online or through the mail for an extension...there's lots of us who got 1 year extensions this way.

Well I now know why they haven't said anything to be despite saying they hadn't even opened my package...

This letter came with our entire application back: http://i47.tinypic.com/11sp72o.jpg

Over 3 months wasted... I feel like I could cry. I don't want to wait another 2-3.

I have to wait on my mother-in-law to forward us the package (our permanent address is where it went) and us to resend it, then start the whole waiting game as September applicants. Does this mean all my 'proof' is outdated?

Also... I highly doubt my forms are old, the stupid immigration officer apparently doesn't know how to open the envelope the forms were in since I'm apparently missing all the forms needed for a sponsor stage. IDIOTS. I put a freaking key guide on the front of the envelope saying they were in there! I feel sick.

Is this seriously going to make my process ANOTHER 2-3 months later? This is a 5-6 month delay!!

Did the letter or something have a UCI or application number and a specific label sometimes they send with the package if yes they will directly associate it to your application.

Oh, I am so sorry to read that Kiri :( . That is super stressful. That happened to Luckyman in the August group - you might want to look up his posts to find out how he handled it.

Thank you!

It seems that they had to just resubmit it all... The photos are good for a year.

Unfortunately the FBI check is only valid 3 months pre-CIC receiving it and then it's good for a year with them... but with it being in my package sent back, and it's been 3 months since I got it (May I got it), then does this mean I have to pay $40 for fingerprints and $18 for another check and wait ANOTHER 2 months before I can apply??? By the time I get that done, adding the previous 3.5 months I've been waiting, and a new sponsor time... it'll be time to renew medicals before they even start to process me. FML.

Called CIC, they said that they suggest I send a letter explaining the situation with my package and it's up to the immigration officer if they will still accept the outdated fingerprints... at this point, I'm taking my chances because I'm not waiting another damn 2 months. But they did say that this is being treated as if they never got anything from me.... so most all is outdated.

I am so sorry Kiri. I know this all would be so stressful for you. :(
may god give you strength to handle this and if you are waiting for another few months ..your ppr should be that very fast to you when you reapply for it.
want to ask u one thing you never got aor ? just this letter from cic since you sent the package?

If it was me, I would resubmit with all updated forms ASAP. I would send the old FBI clearance but I would order a new one now in case they request a new one...you would have it ready to send in right away.
