I included a state clearance report along with a FBI report when I sent in my application. I met with a lawyer prior to sending in my application just to get some information and possibly have a lawyer take care of everything (ended up not using him/any lawyer); He had mentioned that he would include a state specific clearance report as well as a FBI report. I don't think it is necessary, but it's better to include more if you can rather than less cause otherwise the CIC may hold up your application as they wait for you to send additional documents.Cheerio said:Did any of you include a state clearance report as well as a FBI report in your application?
If you didn't, did any of you get requested to send one?
I only sent in an FBI report but I have a feeling it wont be valid by the time they process my application (I received it a month prior to us sending our application). I wonder if they will request either just another FBI report and/or a state clearance report additionaly. My husband is comming over to visit me in mid September and then I plan to go back to Canada with him on October. When he gets here I plan to send off another set of fingerprints to the FBI so that those can start getting processed and they should get done by the time they get to our application (which was delivered August 1st). I'm just not sure if I should also request a state clearance report before we take off since Im probably going to be over there by the time they request anything. I don't want to have to cut my trip short-- at the same time it all keeps adding up. -.-'URIFiggy said:I included a state clearance report along with a FBI report when I sent in my application. The FBI report is valid for a year, but the CIC has to have it in within 3 months of you recieving it, even though they might not start processing your application until several months down the road.Cheerio said:I only sent in an FBI report but I have a feeling it wont be valid by the time they process my application (I received it a month prior to us sending our application). No problem. I had the same question when I was applying, and someone here clarified it for me, so I'm glad I could helpCheerio said:Well I know state reports here take 1-3 weeks to receive so I'm not so worried about that-- at the same time I don't want to invest if its not going to be necessary... I think I will though just in case because It would be a bigger investment if they do end up requesting it and Im in Canada.
I was under the impression that the FBI reports were only valid for 3 months, it makes me feel better the hear its valid for a year... thank you for that clarification!
Did he apply for an extension? If not, I would strongly advise in leaving and coming back. If so, then it's fine. You don't need to get a background check for him living in Canada because... he's not LIVING in Canada. He's still a visitor.brightredscream said:I am doing the paperwork now, and it asks if my husband has lived anywhere other than the US...
He had been living with me for 9 months when we had thought that we were going to do this whole thing inland, but then changed our minds.
The thing is - he was never told by the border crossing agents, and neither of us had any idea, that a maximum stay is only 6 months...will this hinder us on our application? :'(
The e-mail should say which VO it's going toexpatboarder said:Hi everyone
My wife got an email from cpp-ottawa that she was approved as my sponsor. Please update me in the spreadsheet. Will I be processed through Ottawa or LA? I heard the visa will be processed at the LA office and the checks will be from Ottawa?
Good luck to all

He's been back in Florida now for three months. As soon as we found out about the whole 6 month limit thing - he left and returned home to avoid any complications.parker24 said:Did he apply for an extension? Hey...don't get discourage...call again!! They don't know what they are talking about! We are waiting for PR too to have children and we just went in process. Look at it this way you will wait more for Step 1 but Step 2 will be a lot easier trust me on that! Get him to call your MP you are over the processing time....put fire up their butts! After the Buffalo closing we all called numerous amount of times and finally we all got the story straight...they had not clue what was going on at the beginning! Hang in there!!Kiri said:So my sponsor called CIC just now and they said they haven't even opened my package yet. That if we haven't seen online that they have opened it in the next couple days (which there is no way we can because he has no client ID) to call back because they are working on apps around our time.
Pfft, it's been 101 days since I sent it, and 97 days since received... both over limit. What bugs me is that it hasn't even been touched and yet there are more PPRs from June and almost all of June completed and there are still a handful of May remaining. This is just like how the other months went. I'm so frustrated. I'm already sick of this process. Once you cross 100 days without even an AOR (at least some early May people got that much), that's not even cool...
I really hate this because we also want to have a baby and without me being able to have OHIP yet until I get PR, we can't afford the costs and we both refuse to be apart since I have the extension until next May. Besides, I just can't accept going through the pregnancy and birth of our first child without him.
*sigh*
MP, does that mean Member of Parliament? What do I do concerning that?cgagnon said:Hey...don't get discourage...call again!! They don't know what they are talking about!
