Hi Cgagnon,

The letter we received yesterday said our file was being transferred to LA as well. Just wondered what you mean, exactly, about the file staying in Ottawa with only the visa originating from LA? Do you mean the actual processing happens in Ottawa? And also wondered where you got that info? Seems a bunch of you sure are smart and know a lot more than we do and know where to find the info. :D

Thanks for shedding some light on this!

Parker24, Belinasha and I all received the same information, we all were told our files were going to LA. When Belinasha needed to send missing documentation she sent it to LA. We all called to figure out what was going on after a month and my first call they told me that my file was in transit then the 2nd one they said that Ottawa was processing/Finalizing all newer applications from the US and that only the Visa would be issued by LA hence why our files were still in Ottawa. Belinasha received that information as well and yesterday she received an e-mail from LA informing her that all the documentation that she had sent was being transfered to Ottawa. In my mind this could be good as the '' in transit'' stage could be shorter. On our husbands page the mailing address popped up recently which tell us that our file are in process. Our state are IOWA, TENNESSEE AND NORTH CAROLINA. So i'm pretty sure you will be in the same boat :)

I just realized I got my DMP to put CPC-Ottawa on the medical... *groan*

Just so you know Computer Geek all our files will remain in Ottawa only the Visa will be issued by LA.

It does mean that if they require an interview (which is a distinct possibility I've considered) it would require going to LA (which is why I asked for Seattle, since that's just a drive. LA is more likely a flight.)

While I realize interviews are rare, given my prior rejection and the age difference between me and my spouse, I consider it to be substantially higher probability. On the other hand, with a prior application it means they've already done the background check (and I've been in Canada since the background check of the first application). Of course, like everything involving CIC, the only way to find out is to submit the damned thing and see what happens - when it happens.

Occasita, I wouldn't worry too much. As far as I know, all medicals are sent to a depot type place in Ottawa and they are requested from there. Meds can't really be sent to a wrong place.

If there's an interview, by the sounds of it it'll be in Ottawa.

Hi all!

Just wanted to share the great news: Got PPR today!! It couldn't be better timing as we are driving down to Los Angeles next week (for our anniversary party!) so we can take the passports to the LA office and pick them up the same day! We are very excited!! As my E-Cas still shows "in process" let's just all remember that in time things will happen..and even though we are kept in the dark, know that they are moving along! We definitely had our share of confusion and stress, given that until PPR today, we have never received anything in the mail from CIC or VO. Best of luck everyone....we'll check in again soon!

Congrats!

congrats on those receiving their pprs!!

If the request comes from the LA visa office, will they issue the COPR the same day if you go to the office?

I cant stand the wait and would be willing to drive to the office rather than waiting for the mail. It seems like the wait is at least 2-4 weeks for them to return your passport with COPR.

thanks,
boarder

In our ppr letter there was the option to bring it in person. They will make best efforts to getting back to ou the same day

Anyone know how long it's taking to get a PR card these days? I've got to go to Portugal in 2 weeks and I'm really hoping to have it before then.

Mine was in the mail today! We landed close in time if I remember correctly.

If we require an interview, will it be in ottawa? How will my spouse get visa to canada? He is on F1 in usa

Looks like you landed 3 weeks before me, actually. Congrats on getting that PR card!

Interviews are still done in the US according to everything I've read, although perhaps they would do them in Canada if you are physically present here.

I sure hope not - Ottawa is a much longer trip (and more expensive) than LA (from Vancouver). But since we received sponsorship approval I suspect we might just make it through without an interview. But it's immigration: nothing to do but wait and see.
