Got an email on 24NOV2015 requesting additional documents (RPRF, Proof of Canadian Residence, Medical, Police, etc.). Seems like a pretty standard email as many people in the first couple weeks of June have rec'vd this as well. Our documentation was pretty good I thought, but we still emailed and mailed more documents (and copies of the old stuff) just to be sure. If you've got this email too could you update the spreadsheet(s) and post on here too so we can see how many of us are getting this? Good luck, maybe we can get a few more DM's and COPR's before 2015 is out!

Hey, Hollywood. A lot of us receive that batch documents request email. Those who may have updated the spreadsheet at one point to show documents request may not have the fuchsia color showing any longer if they now have DM or Landed. You can look at the column specifically to see it, but not everyone inputs that information.

The batch document request email is nothing to be concerned about. I sent more evidence that my spouse who is the sponsor was living in Canada, and told them that I had already sent the medical, police certificate, and paid the RPRF fees.

I got DM less than a month later. Consider this a good sign more than anything! It means there's movement on your application. :D

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how the landing process goes at Toronto Pearson. I will be landing on Sunday at that airport. I know I have to fill out the customs form as a visitor but do I put my U.S address or my new Canadian address? And how many days should I put down?

Awesome. Thanks, CamL-W. I appreciate it!

OHIP and driver's licensing are provincial services and must be done at Service Ontario. I actually had to go to a drive test centre to exchange my license.. so three different places for me total.

You wouldn't put how many days you're staying since you're going to be a permanent resident. You'll probably want to fill out the residents section.

Service Ontario locations do different things, that's why I said they MIGHT do drivers licence. The Service Ontario at City Hall in Ottawa does OHIP, SIN and Drivers Licences... Others in Ottawa or Ontario don't. You can just look it up online, it says what services are available at your closest Service Ontario location.

Just seen that my wife got decision made this tueday, but there isn't any new information when i click on it and open her file. Can anyone tell us whats most likely going to happen next in our adventure, how long we are waiting now? ive seen lots of big deals made about Decision Made status

From all I've been reading on US outland applicants (I'm one too) it seems like a DM without an interview is pretty much guarenteed good news. So from here, you wait for them to mail you COPR. I've seen people get this mail within days, and I've seen people wait a couple weeks or longer before. A month or longer would be really rare, though, and could indicate a problem with them mailing it to the wrong address. I think this timing might depend on your location. Congrats on your DM!

Oh I thought I had to fill out the visitors section cause I'm not a resident yet?

Hello everyone! I'm sure this question has been asked a million times but I'm having trouble finding info on the CIC website and need a little help. My husband and our 3 young children are all dual US/Canadian citizens. He works at a university and currently has interviews scheduled for jobs in Canada and we're hoping to move at the end of the this school year. I asked before on this forum and it seemed as though people thought we could start the application process once he had interviews scheduled. I've been working on my background checks and have my medical exam scheduled for next month. We're gathering all the forms now and I'm working on supporting documentation. I'm stuck in an internet loop between Guide 3900 and the checklist without being able to find any concrete info on either. Are they looking for primarily financial evidence? We've been married for 8 years and all our finances are merged - joint bank accounts, house, car, credit cards, etc. I was planning to send our children's birth certificates, car title, mortgage info and bank account info, essentially anything that has both our names on it and a lot of photos from the previous 8 years. What else should I send? Do we need to get affidavits from family even though we've been married for 8 years and have three kids and completely shared finances?

And two more smaller questions - our kids currently only have U.S. passports. They have their Canadian citizenship cards but not Canadian passports since we're living in the U.S. Do we need to get these for me to apply or can that wait until we're ready to move?

And the form also asks me to submit photos for all my spouse and dependents? I'm assuming this would be for people whose spouse and dependents are immigrating with them not those are already Canadian citizens?

Thank you so much for any help you can give!

Oh I got a response. Today, in a separate email from the meds request. Simply stated that they had sent correspondence today and to comply with "our requirements". So it doesn't seem to be a mistake. My wife's MP is worthless...when our sponsorship got hung up for 6 extra weeks because the file was sent to Ottawa before approval was complete, she talked to their office and they won't touch anything unless it's been a full year since the application was filed.

I did send the following email in reply to their tersely worded response to mine:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your response. I did receive the request for a new exam today.

I am a bit disappointed that it took this long for the request since the original email I sent inquiring about the possibility was sent on October 19th. I could have completed the exam by now and been one step closer to being with my wife in Canada. I also understand that many applicants, particularly from the U.S., receive extensions beyond the one year expiration date, so this new request just adds to the disappointment. In addition, the sponsorship portion of our application was delayed nearly 6 weeks beyond the normal processing time because our file was inadvertently transferred to CPC –Ottawa before sponsor approval was completed and everything needed to be sent back to Mississauga. If that hadn’t happened, we also might have had approval prior to the expiration of the medicals.

Because of that delay and since my case notes clearly state that there is nothing in my medicals that are considered a burden on the health care system, I respectfully ask for an extension of my medicals. I know it’s not likely, but my wife and I have waited 16 years to be together permanently. If her now deceased husband had granted her a divorce or if she had had the resources to fight for one, we would have been together years ago. We’ve done everything the right way, so I am hoping for some compassion in this request, especially in this holiday season and also in light of the very compassionate work the Canadian government is doing to bring so many refugees into the country right now. I just want to be with my wife.

Thank you for your consideration. I will move forward with booking an appointment with the approved physician in my area as soon as possible; however I do hope I can get a response to this email as well.

Sincerely,
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Doubt I will hear anything...

It took 2.5 months for CIC to respond to our requests when there was a request for a Third Medical and as per the CIC Dr there was no requests in the medical file...We sent emails...the CIC Dr called...sent emails....the CIC help centre even sent three requests for info...Thank goodness the CIC Dr worked with us by not charging us for all the follow ups and they did not preform the whole medical the third time...The person reviewing the medical could not figure out how to open the efile....yes I am 100% telling the truth...The CIC doctor's office worked with CIC and the info ended up getting mailed which took another week...talk the CIC Dr you went to the first time...they will have the medical file and be able to see what is needed....

Have you still not heard anything from them, Sunset?

I actually did get a response the next day to my email - it was short and sweet...saying, yes, I indeed needed to do them again. I already have an appointment for Thursday and the office was able to look it up in the system and it says full medical required. It's all so silly because my notes say I passed the first time around, they can't exclude spouse family class applicants because of excessive demand anyway, and the form CIC send me says I am Excessive Demand Exempt too.

I guess it's timing. Based on my notes, my first set expired yesterday, and based on everything else and all the people that got DM on Thursday, I would have as well if my meds weren't expiring the next day. Just not enough of a "grace period" I guess for them to extend them for landing is all I can think of. Just pisses me off...$465 down the drain for no decent reason.

Hey, all. I have a question.

Has anyone who activated their PR, left Canada for a trip, etc., and then used their COPR to re-enter Canada via airline flight?

I landed today at the Rainbow Bridge at Niagara, and the agent, who was really friendly and seemingly very knowledgable, said that I may not be able to use my COPR to return to Canada via flight/airport unless cleared by the airline. (My COPR says "Not Valid for Travel" across it. She said I could use it for land borders but not necessarily for international flights. e.g. crossing the border in-air.)

I'm headed home to FL for Christmas—sooner than my PR card will arrive—so I'm going to have to call West Jet tomorrow to confirm that I can use my COPR to come back into Canada in January. (She said it was up to airlines.) Otherwise, I'll have to change my flight to Buffalo, rent a car, and drive across the border.

I'm curious if anyone has successfully used their COPR (already activated) to return to Canada via airport?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Ineffable! Congratulations on landing!!! I am curious if having a PR card on hand matters when you have a U.S. passport. If you are visa-exempt, then I would assume showing your passport to the airlines would suffice, and then it's up to you to present proof of your status (signed COPR and passport) to CBSA. It was my understanding that traveling without your PR card is more of an issue for people who are not visa exempt, since airlines do not want to be liable if someone does not have a visa to enter Canada.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong! :)
