Woohoo, congrats! Now on to join us in the line for the PR cards, lol.
I know right?! I was wondering how long it's been for most people to receive their actual card?

There was a really great thread where people were posting their landing date and when they got their PR card, but it was deleted for some unknown reason. The last I heard a week or so ago people landing on June 30 were getting processed for their card, so it's still at about 3 months.

Yes, I'm considering just getting my birth certificate amended to avoid this hassle, which is what my father should have done in the first place if he wanted my last name to be his. My birth certificate is the only identification I have with my formal last name. My drivers licence and passport are in my current last name.

The location of a panel physician won't be a problem. In August, after I visited my fiancé for two months, I moved to Washington so we can see each other at least once a month. So, I can just take a bus to Seattle for my medical.
My spouse had her first name switched after naturalization, and hasn't changed the citizenship paper, so passport and citizenship paper have different names. So, we attached court document pertaining to name change. As long as you attach the court documents, it should be ok.
My spouse moved to Washington, too, to be close to with me. We did medical in Victoria. But, apparently, Vancouver doctor is cheaper.
The only reason we didn't amend the citizenship paper is that we were worried about the paper getting lost in the mail and not being able to get it before we submit the paperwork.
I think passport is the primary document that cic goes by.

So I think I posted this a few days ago but it might have gotten lost in the shuffle. I'm getting everything ready that I can at this point foor when we apply in a few months, including background checks from the countries I've lived in. Japan requires a letter from CIC stating the they are requesting the background check and for what purpose. Is there any hope of contacting CIC and getting such a letter so I can go ahead and apply? Or do I just have to submit everything else and wait to they request it? Will this delay the processing of my application?

Many thanks for any guidance!

Thank you. I'd already looked at that but it just tells me I need a letter from CIC, not how to get that letter. I'm guessing I just have to submit everything else and wait for them to send me the letter and then go to the consulate. This will probably push my application to the back of the pile, right?

The first line question you, in bold writing.

Do I need to provide a Police Certificate with my Application for Permanent Residence? No. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will send you a letter requesting a police certificate after you send your Application for Permanent Residence. You must bring that letter when you apply for a Police Certificate.

I guess you could say it will delay it a bit, but since you have no choice it's just part of the process for those who've lived in Japan. I would not worry about it, nothing you can do about their requirements.

Thank you! Didn't know if there was another way to get the letter but it looks like there's isn't. Thanks.

Hi there....

I really need help with this entire process. To be honest I am a bit overwhelmed and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am an american citizen. I am marrying my fiance who is a Canadian citizen on October 24th in Montreal.

After we are married I would like to apply for PR asap, but I am not sure what the process is or even where to begin.

When I had my Canadian wife immigrate to US, her passport and birth certificate did not match , caused a real hassle, Her birth certificate was correct but her passport had her middle name as her first, that is the name she uses. Birth certificate is important, It took alot of work to fix the problem. The US custom and border personnel gave her a hard time,

Just Sharing...Today the waiting is stressing me beyond...At this point we have no idea what is happening...we have done everything that needs to be done ...everything we have read on the CIC site is COMPLETELY different then what reality is...My Hubbys TRP has expired and I understand if you have the receipt that you have submitted an another application things should be fine but then again this is from the CIC site and I don not trust the info on there based on experience....Doctors office still has no idea what CIC wants and they cant just enter anything...we have emailed a request on what is needed as has the CIC Dr's office and we were told they would look into it, this is the person looking after our case not sure if its the case manager or not...we have submitted court info from 24 years ago...Rec'd Medical has never been added to our CIC site and we know they have the first and second info... last time our case was updated was in July...I just have a feeling the same thing is going to happen this year as last...case not touched after Aug 2014...

When was the last time you ordered notes? You stated the last communication with CIC was July of this year, have you ordered notes since July and if so what does it say?
