If you have everything together, you could submit your current passport and then update your passport (via a case specific enquiry or in the same packet with the FBI info). The key to submitting the info is to do it before they ask for it to minimize delays (but ideally waiting until after you have a UCI - unique client identifier).

I dont' have everything else yet and figure it'll take me the better part of the month to get it all together anyway though I will take note of the advice if I end up missing something else though I don't foresee any additional difficulties.

got the FBI fingerprints!!!! that was the long pole. got most of the paperwork completed.
one question, beside all the normal supporting documents ( marriage pictures, join bank statements...) what else do you think we should attach? three years of cellphone statements with the calls highlighted?, what else? I am seeing people with like tons of supporting docs, I feel that mine is short.... any advice?

Mine was short too, I submitted 6 pics, showed joint bank accounts and a marriage certificate. I'm waiting to see if they request more proof of our marriage. You know, because having a child and living together for 7 yrs doesn't seem to be quite enough to some of these VO's. I say send what you have and if they want more, they'll ask. Good luck!!

I am with Saria1. We are submitting very little: some pics on top of the wedding photos, the marriage certificate, and copy of my husband's passport stamps. We also included approx. 4 pages of relationship development that was primarily bullet form.

Sounds like we all have a different strategy, and most are getting by.

We added screenshots of Skype calls, wedding cards from family, a few letters and cards back and forth to each other and we got letters from our parents and a few friends to add in as extra evidence as well. On top of all the pictures and phone records

We did skype screen shots as well as text screen shots. Also found all of our flight information back and forth on delta's website since we usually flew through them- they had all of the history of our flights over the last 4 years. We did about the same as you did, but without the letters from parents and friends and all was processed smoothly without any additional documents or evidence requested! I wish we had thought of the supporting letters from parents and friends - that is a great idea! good luck

Whatever you feel best shows the development and continual nature of your relationship

We picked conversations from FB messenger that showed the development of our relationship from friends to dating to engaged to married etc, while simultaneously demonstrating that we have been in a continuous relationship.

We had 150,000 messages so we definitely had to pick and choose! Haha. Pictures of us with eachother's familys. Pictures of us doing mundane things. Skype call logs, showing the length of the calls as well. Screenshots of us playing online games together. Our Offbeat Bride web feature

I think for most U.S. applicants that are married you can keep it pretty slimmed down. Enough to validate what you say in writing, but not a lot else. It's other countries where the economic differences are larger where challenges are, or with common law. We sent a few wedding and other pics with family and friends, a couple of airline receipts, intermittent phone records going back to 1999 (couldn't believe I still had the old bills!) and intermittent skype and email stuff, plus a few things, like holiday cards, that were addressed to both of us. It wasn't pages and pages like some send, but I'm guessing it will be plenty.

Got some good news in the mail a few days ago, my FBI Clearance, My medical in two weeks and off goes the paper work to my wife so she can sign and mail to Ottawa. Sense of accomplishment.
