All applications first go to Mississauga, where the sponsor is evaluated. If the sponsor is approved, then the package is forwarded to the applicable visa office (for US Outland, that would be Ottawa).

Generally, if you send it to the visa office rather than to CPC-M, they will return the entire package to you.

Note that the website is quite clear that the application must be sent to CPC-M: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp#3900E6

You just send it all to Mississauga. They will then forward to Ottawa if sponsor is approved.

Who informed you of this? It specifically states in the guide where to mail it. They even draw out an envelope for you with the Mississauga address o_O..

I was informed correctly, I have just been so worried that I forgot something or that I didn't fill the paperwork out correctly. So, today I swore I sent it to the wrong place and got myself all worked up for nothing. Like I said..I truly need to forget about immigration until I hear something I am making myself sick! I moved to Canada, yes me... the woman who supervised a district of 12~24 hour convenience stores... o_O to say the least I'm bored and use to working my a** off! So being unable to work is well ugg.

Already in canada on temp work visa... hopefully PR landing soon!
:D :D :D

I haven't written a post yet, but I am an American and my husband is Canadian. We submitted our spousal PR app on August 13, 2014 and my husband was approved as a sponsor on September 19, 2014! Only 37 days from when we submitted it.. much faster than the online processing times say right now (55 days was the most recent update to sponsor approval). Now, it is being process in Ottawa where I expected it to be processed, and it has been there for 11 days.

Anyways, I wanted to give you an update in case anyone was waiting around like I was, nervous that I would never see an approval or there would be issues with our application with the new August form (which we did not submit- somehow that was overlooked, thank goodness... didn't apply to us anyway since we don't have any dependent children). So, I hope to hear soon for the final passport request and hope they don't need an interview or any other documents as we sent in everything (police reports, medicals, payment, etc) in one package ahead of time. Fingers crossed!!

Ok I have a question about the Co-signer.
My husband is American and has a job in the states. How does it work for him to be a co-signer of himself?
I don’t think I make enough money alone by their standards to support him, but am unable to locate the specific information.
Please someone help me to understand the co-signer???

he can not be a co-signer. there is no co-signer for spousal sponsorship. the "spouse" being mentioned is when a couple both sponsor a third person for pr.

Hello everyone! I just moved to Erie, PA from Nebraska to be a little closer to my Canadian fiance. We plan to get married in Ontario, Canada in two weeks. After we are married, where do we send the spousal sponsorship off to? How long does it normally take?

RCohen2014 is correct. A spousal sponsorship NOT require a co-signer. That one confused me too! :-[ It doesn't matter how much or how little you make; as the sponsoring spouse you will agree to be responsible for him financially for three years, but you do not need to show that you have the money to provide that support. I am the U.S. citizen in our marriage, and made MUCH more than my Canadian husband, but we submitted a complete package of all paperwork and he did not need to prove any ability to support me.
