Hi All,

Those who have health insurance through US employer but live in Windsor and commute to Michigan, what do you show as ID proof for Doctor's appointment in the US?
They seem to be accepting only a photo ID with a US address on it.

Thanks

I showed my passport with my visa stamp once, I dont think there are any laws that mandate to show any ID with address. They just want to ascertain you are the one who is insured and you are who you say are.
If they insist on state issued, get the state id whats the big deal?

One thing make sure, whatever you have to do, if you have option of US healthcare, make sure you and family are enrolled for it and can use it. For all practical purposes think of Canadian healthcare as non existent. Not even as back up.

Thanks for the reply @justinline .
It is a big deal because a Canadian Tax resident can not also have a US Id. Not allowed and can get you in tax troubles as far as I know

Where you getting this from.....not sure about that. But for me I had US drivers license for a while along with my Canadian one. The state I am in doesnot recognize the Canadian license for exchange.
So they just gave the license back. I got the US licesnse just because I used to have license there 10 years back.
