I currently live in Windsor, Canada and commute to work occasionally in Michigan on H1B work visa for a client.
My employer is a staffing agency firm located in California which sponsored H1B work visa for me.
I am just wondering if most people who do the cross border commute usually work full time or in a contract type role and have below questions regarding contract type role:
1. Since H1B work visa is usually tied to an end client, I am just wondering if it is legal to cross the border once the contract is complete but I797 with the employer is still valid and possibly receiving paychecks.
2. And in between one contract to the next and filing the H1B paperwork, is it recommended to stay in the US temporarily until H1B paperwork is complete?
