Hey everyone, i am just so nervous and am hoping someone who has had some experience with this can calm my nerves.

I am Canadian, living in Montreal. My American husband is still living in the US. we are just so tired of being apart and the long distance. We just want to start our lives together. He wants to quit his job and just come here while we apply for his PR.

I am just reading about a visitor record for him. I believe the best thing would be for me to cross into Canada with him with proof of marriage and relationship. I am planning on supporting him while we wait. Thing is we have not submitted the application yet. we are still waiting for FBI clearance. And at the time he will be crossing the border, we still will not have applied yet.

I am just really afraid that because he won't have any ties to the US (he will have quit his job) and since i wont have PR fees paid as proof, how do i show i INTEND to file for PR? What proof should i bring, besides paystub and marriage certificate?
Should we say he is just visiting for 6 months while we wait for PR answer, or should we outright ask for a visitor record?

If you want to show intent, you can pay for the permanent resident application and show the receipt. You do not have to file the papers immediately.

Yes, pay your fees in advance and show your receipt. Also, you say that your intention is for him to stay while you apply for his PR but still get a visitor record. It helps

If you can show things like rental agreements that are still running, if he can quit his job after he get to canada, that woul be better as well (i understand this isnt always possible)
Im not sure if its better to just say he is visiting you and show his return ticket, only if he buys a one way then they will think he has no intent on leaving canada if the application fails. This is definite something they will be looking for. Like an immigration officer told me once that you have the right to go knocking on canada's door, but it is also their right to not let you in.

If they believe that you husband will not leave Canada once his vistor visa is up, they can and may refuse him entry.

Thanks for the info! i feel a little better.
Thing is he does not have a rental agreement, he has to quit before he comes. He is giving it all up to come here and he is driving in, so no return ticket. Truth is he won't leave until they make him lol
we plan on applying to extend his visitor record if it expires and appeal a PR decision if it is denied. If he has to leave, he will go and stay with his family in the US. But i am hoping it won't come to that. So technically he is not goign anywhere for a while. I know I can't tell them this...im just so terrified of them refusing entry

Was your husband with you? I peeked at your last posts and saw the US won't let him in (stupid border) so I'm curious if that was the reason, since you're married now.

No he was not with me. I think it was because I said I was coming for 6 months, OR the first person was just having a bad day as the next day they were nice and asked if I gave the same info the day before when I said I had they just shook their head.
