Is this a H1 or B1/B2? Also don't you send passport along with all the documents? Will the pp be asked at a later time?

B1/B2 in my case. I sent all the documentation requested by the embassy, including the passports (current and the one with the last visa in the same category)

Hi, I am a PR of Canada. Previously had H1B visa and now residing in Canada and I have applied for L1 blanket visa. I had an appointment on Jan 18th 2022 at US consulate in Toronto . But due to bad weather the appointments were cancelled and was asked to reschedule. I was sent back to the end of the line. I read in this forum that stating PR status was helpful in expediting appointment request.

We give our PR status while submitting the DS 160 form anyways, but how do we request for expediting?

Just an Update in case this is helpful to anyone:

Application to renew a B1/B2 Visa as a Canadian Permanent Resident.

- 11th Nov 2021: Dropped off new and old passports + supporting documents to Canada Post (Toronto)
- 12th Nov 2021: Passports reached US Consulate in Toronto
- 19th Nov 2021: Passports dispatched from US Consulate, Toronto
- 22nd Nov 2021: Passports received at post office with US B1/B2 Visa stamp

No interviews or additional supporting documents requested. Very smooth process.
When you sent you passport and documents to the consulate, did the online status change on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/

My documents were received by the consulate in Toronto on 26 Jan but the online status still shows send documents, wondering if it would be updated with case number or something.

Did you get your passport back ?
Here is an update on my case.

The online instructions only asked me to submit the 'required' documents so that was just as follows.
1) Instructions printed from https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv
2) DG160 confirmation page
3) Current and previous passport (that had my expired US visa in the same category b1/b2)
4) 1 2x2 photo taken in the last 6 months
5) Double-sided copy of Canadian PR card

Note: I did not submit any additional documents like proof of employment or bank statements as it was not mentioned that they needed that AND it said twice in the instructions to ONLY send the required documents.

25 Jan Dropped off application package + passport to Canada post
26 Jan Package delivered to US Consulate Toronto
28 Jan Online tracking status shows as application received (entered in the system for processing at US Consulate) For mail-in cases: It means that the visa application has been received by the Embassy and is undergoing review.
1 Feb Status changed to Administrative processing. This status means: the visa-issuance process (visa has been approved but not yet printed)
3 Feb online status changed to Issued

I will update here as and when I get the passport back.

To track updates on your case after sending it via the dropbox option, please use https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx
You'll need your consulate information and your DS160 number.
