So, I am a Canadian resident who received permanent residency because my husband is Canadian.

My sister found out last night that she got accepted into Concordia University's English Literature program, and we are now trying to figure out what we need to do to get her the student visa and obtain the funds. So, my main questions are:

1)Will Concordia work with FASFA? I remember reading something on their website about it.
2)How should she go about getting the 30k in loans she needs (according to Concordia's cost of living information)
3)How does this work with the bank?

I appreciate any insight and guidance!

I can't help with the first question.

For questions #2 and #3, she will need to obtain the loan from her bank in the US (it won't be from a bank in Canada). She should speak with her bank branch to find out how the process works for obtaining loans for international study.

If you are set on getting a loan in Canada, then it would have to be you and your husband who take out the loan and you wouldn't be able to benefit from the educational loan system (where interest is waived while the student is studying).

Thank you! I know that she has to get different loans from different places since it's rare someone will just give her 30k. I'm looking for information from someone who has been through this process and is a US citizen as well.

Thank you again! :D
