Hello again,
I really need help on my work exp confusion. I have already asked many people, but the confusion is still there. I gained work exp while doing my PhD. I read somewhere that work ex with studies will not be considered under express entry, so I am a little worried. Actually my situation was: as much as I was actually doing PhD and eventually obtained the degree, the contract that I was given for phd was a work-contract, for a part-time position with 19 hours 45 min/week workload. I would take seminars for undergrad students (job responsibilities coincided with some of those mentioned in one of the NOCs). I got salary every month (instead of phd fellowship) and paid taxes. Thus, while I actually was an employer, I simultaneously was doing PhD. My visa status said research, employee. I am skeptical as to whether or not they would see it as workex! Any help would be big time appreciated, maybe from the ones who have faced a similar situation, like being phd employee and not a student.
Thanks a lot :)

If you were in Canada with a stidy permit, then unfortunately any work done in that period cannot be considered for your work experience regarding express entry CRS points. It can be considered towards your FSW eligibility points (67 minimum to be eligible or FSW, not for CEC). as long as you were considered a full time student during your work experience. Same situation I had more than 30 hrs/week with NOC 4012 and couldn't claim one minute of them.

Yea I was on a work permit, and have completed PhD from Germany, so outside Canada. Was a little skeptical as despite I was paid for teaching and research related work, I eventually gained a PhD degree finally. But its clear now. Thanks to the links and all of you :)
I am a "she" btw :)
Thanks again

Sorry I didn't fully understand. You were in Canada and fell under NOC 4012? What went wrong with that? I though if you are eligible for FSWP, and fall under NOC 4012, country should not matter, or would it??

Yes, you will claim poins for FSWP but not for CRS. You be eligible for express entry but you can't claim points for the work done as a full time student to increase your CRS score.

How about part time work experience during full time study outside canada in NOC 4021?

I should be able to claim points for that?

I think I am back to all the confusions. When submitted my profile, I put working hours corresponding to my part-time job, where the NOC was 4012 (post secondary teaching and research assistant).
After submission, the system showed my net score and also mentioned the program I am eligible for: FSWP.
I have been a PhD employee outside Canada on a part time contract for three years.
While calculating the CRS score myself, the system asked "how many years of (full time/part time), skilled foreign work experience I have. And when I looked for skilled work experience, I found NOC 4012 (Type A), where the duties overlapped with my duties, and the requirement was "enrollment in a university/college course",which I fulfilled. This gave me the corresponding CRS points.
Do you think there is something wrong or I cannot fulfill CRS score criteria??
So sorry for bugging you, but I am just messed up in head now. I think I am confusing NOC 4012 with 4021

Don't worry... if the hours were done for a PhD degree outside of Canada, they will count. If you done the hours during a PhD degree INSIDE of Canada, they won't.
