I am currently residing in the US on a work visa. We completed the landing on May 29th 2014 and applied for our PR cards and left Canada in 5 days. Our PR cards reached a trusted relative of ours. However, we got the cards only for me and my two children. Due to a minor error by the immigration officer, my wife's card went to a wrong address. We submitted a solemn declaration as advised by the call center.
However, my wife received a notice now to collect her PR card in person and she needs to travel to Calgary. We just have a less than 7 days to collect the card. We are planning to go in person to the Canadian consulate at New York to apply for a travel document. Will this cause any issue as we just stayed only for 5 days in Canada. We still have a lot of time to meet the residential obligation. I couldn't find any information on how long it takes to process?
Or should we avoid applying for the travel document and cross the border using the COPR? I would really appreciate if some one could provide some inputs on this if you had faced a similar situation.
