I am Tharun Reddy, I was admitted into practical elements of Mechanical Engineering for September 2017,later I deferred my admit for January 2018.So,the deadline in the offer letter is to pay semester fee before September 5th 2017.
As the deadline was 5th September.,I made a payment for 1st semester fee before the given date..

During this period my University of Windsor application was in process..,
But on 14th September, I got a offer letter from Windsor for January 2018 intake.

So,I sent a mail to Fanshawe regd refund, they replied me that I can get the refund due to you deferred your admission.

So, could you please give any other alternative option to get back my funds .

Thank you.

Yes,it mentioned like this,
Program Deferral
Students are asked to complete the International Student Program Change Form and submit it to the International Centre on or before the first 10 school days (post-secondary) or the first 5 school days (ESL) of the semester they were originally admitted for.

Students who defer to a future intake forgo the right to request a refund. If the student later chooses not to attend Fanshawe College, all fees paid will remain with the College.

But,still do I have any other options like withdraw/transfer my funds to university of Windsor.

Depending on your college in withdrawl form there's option for transfer to another college/Uni.

First have LOA from Uni. Of windsor then withdraw from your current course. College may give you cheque after deducting some amount
or directly transfer as I said

The reply I got to this query from college is

""Your original request was to come in September and then you were offered admission again for January (deferral). As noted on our refund policy which can be found on our website, students who defer to a future intake forgo the right to request a refund. If the student later chooses not to attend Fanshawe College, all fees paid will remain with the College.""

I was worried about the last line..

1. They aren't going to give you a refund, so you either attend or consider the money lost.

If that is the case..,Can I transfer my funds to Windsor and also can I withdraw clg admission..
They are quite clear here in not refunding : students who defer to a future intake forgo the right to request a refund. If the student later chooses not to attend Fanshawe College, all fees paid will remain with the College.

If thats their policy you can't challenge it

Ya,but the thing was I couldn't get refund, still my question was can I have a trfr option as they mentioned in website like these...,

All other requests for refunds: Refunds are now subject to a $2300.00 administrative fee and will be dealt with on a case to case basis. If students are transferring to another institution then the student must submit a copy of their letter of admission from an approved institution along with a completed International Student Withdrawal Form within 10 business days of the beginning of the semester. The letter of admission must be for the same semester for which the student has paid tuition. A copy of the passport and valid study permit will also be required.
And also.,
Transferring to another institution: Students must submit a copy of their letter of admission from an approved institution along with a completed International Student Withdrawal Form within five business days of the beginning of the semester. The letter of admission must be for the same semester for which the student has paid tuition. A copy of the passport and valid study permit will also be required. Refunds are subject to a $2300 administrative fee effective for the 2016 Winter semester...

So I was also asking anyone faced these type of situation too...

If you find their refund policy confusing, Is it too difficult contacting them : Call or email. Better than copying/pasting here

The email says that since you deferred your admission until January you forfeit your right to a refund.
Thats the way I read it as well the OP might have got a refund if they transferred to a college/course that also started in September but deferring to course starting January and another insitution the rules seem clear no refund.

You better consider it loss.. sooner you accept that, better you recover from it. its clearly said in their policy.

"As noted on our refund policy which can be found on our website, students who defer to a future intake forgo the right to request a refund. If the student later chooses not to attend Fanshawe College, all fees paid will remain with the College"

If you haven't deferred your admission to Jan 2018 than you should be able to request the refund.

Unfortunately the college would have difficulty filling the spot if you defer in late August or September. By not allowing a refund they are recouping their losses in case you don't attend in January. Wouldn't be fair to admit people then let then cancel at the last minute every semester. Colleges have operating costs as well.
