Urgent - regarding gic receipt

Hey everyone,

My course in Canada starts on the 3rd of September and so far I have

1. Acceptance letter from the college
2. Fees receipt from the college
3. I paid $10,100 to Scotia bank 23rd July, but havent received a receipt from them nor any confirmation.
4. But I do have the receipt from my local bank- Vijaya bank that a total of $10,100 has been transferred from my bank in India to my account with scotia bank.
5. I gave my medical on 23rd July and have the receipt for it.

We are hoping to send the visa application by the 1st of August(2 days before the final date), but it is highly unlikely that we will receive the letter from scotia bank in time.

My educational consultant suggests, we use the bank receipt provided by my Vijaya bank as proof of Living expenses instead of waiting for the letter from scotia bank along with the initial letter from scotia bank that an account has been opened with scotia bank under my name.

what are your thoughts about this? I wasent able to find any detail online about using the local bank receipt for a student visa application.

I think that is going to weaken your case. But you are already too late. Looks like you have no choice in there!

Damn.

The last date to apply should be once month before the course, which in my case is August 3rd.

Scotia bank took nearly 3 weeks to send the initial mail and I doubt if they would send the fees paid receipt with in the 10 business days as they claim.

Do I have another option?
I wasent able to find any case of people using the Indian bank receipt for living expenses. I am really worried about using this receipt.

I was in the same situation. My gic receipt also took pretty long. And i was desperate to get my file processing asap. I tried my best to convince my representative to apply with the receipt of my local bank but he strictly objected to it. Hence i had to wait.
Well if you can wait for few more days then youre good to go.
Just stay patient and PRAY!

Don't worry you will get your receipt by Tuesday...
I am Hoping that you have the SWIFT receipt.
If yes then send the copy of it in a PDF format by logging into your secure mail....just reply on the mail which you have received from Scotia.

I hope this will fasten up tha process..

they strongly recommended GIC.,without any financial documents.,if you are just putting that receipt and sending it.,you may weaken ur case., wait until 31 and then stil if u dont get fil visa with receipt as u got no other option.,

As much as I don't want to use the Indian bank's receipt for proof of funds .

I am unable to find many posts by people who have use this method and have succeeded or failed.


About swift receipt
(I got a soft copy by email from my local bank addressed to me on the top left and the Vijaya bank detail on the right along with a SWIFT code.

Followed by "foreign bills transaction advice" and the date along side it.

and has other information of the rate used and how much money transferred in CAD and has a section below about telex chargest and P&T charges etc.)

I do also have a 2 page hard copy receipt that I got from the bank.

I am hoping to get the scotia bank confirmation by August 1-2. If not, I am Lost if I should carry forth with my application using the Vijaya bank receipt or change my intake to January.

I have also applied visa through consultant. consultant told me last date to apply is 7th august ( if you can cross check this information), however since my documents are ready I will apply on Monday ( 29h july'2013)
I paid for GIC on 8th July and received certificate on 18th. I see most of them got in exact 10 days which means you should get it by 2nd. If 7th is the last day it will not effect you however it is more likely that there could be an issue if you cant show funds other wise or a bank loan

I dont usually give advice about the financial aspects of an application but anyway since you guys seem to be so interested.

Last year I used the bank receipt when submitting my visa application since I was running out of time aswell. You can see my timeline below my name.

As you can see, I got my visa within one week. The bank receipt worked just fine.

I'm not recommending that you should file the application or not. That choice is yours. Just sharing my experience.

FYI for the people who have applied for the GIC, I transferred on 19th n due to 19th being Friday, transfer was done on 22nd n on 25th I received my Gic Certificatehope that helps.... please followmthe procedue I mentioned n hope for the best--

This is your internal bank receipt.

This is not the receipt which I used. The SWIFT Receipt is different and has information like BIC Receiver/Sender/Transaction and Reference No./Intermediary Banks etc.

I got this same copy as a print out along with another document from my bank.

The other document has information such as

senders reference no:
bank operation code:
value currency code:
interbank settled amount: (cad10,100.00)
ordering customer: (My details in India),
account with institution: (bank of nova scotia ),
beneficiary customer: (has my scotia bank account no, my name, branch transit code, institution code and scotia student gic programme),
remittance information: (scotia student gic programme, attention: venience botelho, student - my name, student id - humber college id and DOB),
and lastly details of charges (says SHA)

Is this the swift receipt? I only have a hard copy of this.

I think my agent is planning to use this as the replacement of GIC certificate to use with the student application if the gic certificate does not come by August 1st.

Do you know why they have chosen the last date as 7th of August?. my course starts on the 3rd of September and iv taken the last date as 1 month prior to the start of the course which is 3rd of August.

I might just defer the program to Jan. il start a new post to get more details about deferring i guess to avoid confusion.
