Urgent processing: Has anyone applied with the reason of sick family member?

Hi there,

Passport expires in a week and I'll need to travel due to family member sickness. Issue is, I cannot renew my passport quickly and it would take more than 3 months as I need some papers in my home country related to military service and it's a bit complicated.

I already applied for Citizenship and was thinking about submitting an urgent form mentioning that my passport expires and a valid reason of family member sickness with a proof letter from the hospital, I wonder what else do I need and what if it gets rejected? Do they continue my application under normal processing or it will be backlogged and the current progress gets delayed?

They would wonder why you didn't renew your passport sooner, if you knew it would take time. Or why you can't travel this week. The rule is not "cannot obtain a passport in your current nationality". 3 months isn't too bad. It would be different if it was virtually impossible or such an extended process that it could take a really long time (proof required). Then you could have a case to make.

The criteria for urgent processing is clearly stated - if you don't tick any of those boxes, it will be denied. I've tried. Didn't work - even for the oath.
