This information is public and this was before covid and I believe they are still doing the same for some applicants.

After the test: result, interview and next steps
After the test, you’ll meet with a citizenship official for an interview. During the interview, the citizenship official will:

  • give you the results of your test, if you had one
  • check your language skills, if you’re between 18 and 54 years of age
  • verify your application and original documents
  • ask any questions we may have about your application
  • make sure you meet all the requirements for citizenship
If you pass and meet the other requirements for citizenship, we may:

  • give you a ceremony date at the same time we give you the test results or
  • email or send you a letter with the date and time of your ceremony

This applies for online exams too? I don't recall people did this when they did their online exam unless I missed it.

Some people are doing the interview online now and the online interview request will come days after the test not right after you are done with your online test. I will expect the process to be the same in terms of what they ask during the interview.

Hi everyone,
I need an urgent processing of my case because my employer wants me to go to US for conferences. Does anyone have a template letter from the employer for such a case?
Thanks,

To the best of my knowledge, it is not a valid reason for requesting urgent processing. Why dont you get US visit visa on your current passport. By the way, borders are closed so even if US travel was accepted reason for urgent processing, your application will not be accepted.

I am sure others can correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for your answer. My case is a valid reason since I can lose my job if I can't travel and also the borders were never closed for essential business purposes.
Hi,

You can obtain a US visitor visa at any US consulate in Canada. Travelling to the US for work related purposes is not a valid reason for urgent processing, unless you don't have a passport from your own country. However, there is no template for making a request for urgent processing. It can be a simple cover letter either from yourself and/or your employer.

Good luck!

Hi Guys,

I have a job with a US employer, if I don't join them I will loose my job. But I want to apply for citizenship before I join them. Does this qualify to be urgent? If I don't join them in the US they will not accept this situation and I will lose my job. Please let me know.
Thanks,

Based on this https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...p/become-canadian-citizen/apply/urgently.html

You might be eligible or might not be - you do not work for Canadian Employer and travel to conference might not be urgent reason

Thanks. It not a conference. Its a job. There are not many job in Canada in oil sector. Now, I have an employer wanting me to join them full time basis in the USA.
Hi,

It does not hurt to give it a try. Personally, I have been rejected the request for UP even after submitting enough evidence that the job required Canadian citizenship due to sensitivity and involvement with Canadian Government agencies.

Good luck!

Oh. Wow! That contradicts their own rules. That should not be the case. If you are qualifying you should get it, unless they deem not essential. But if you submitted the genuine request with real proof they can not reject.

Well, I did submit the contract, the job requirements as well as a letter from the HR dept. proving that Canadian citizenship is required in order to get the Top Secret clearance but that did not help. At the beginning I was under the impression that the request has been accepted as the process moved pretty fast, AoR within days, In Process within a week, but since the file moved to LO there has been no movement since 5 months now. Unfortunately, I had to quit the job as I was not able to obtain citizenship/clearance within the 6 months of probation period.

Oh..that is not acceptable. You should reach out to them again asking for not picking up ur application. They are liable to the public. I think they might have thought that its not urgent based on their own understanding. Well, good luck. I hope you get your citizenship soon.

I would say reach out to CBC.. :)
