Hello there..

My case is a particular case. I am studing in Canada since 1 year ago. And my student permit is valid until Spetember 2019 but my study visa expired 7 months ago. I need to go to my country Ecuador, but I can´t because I need to have a valid Visa to come back to Canada. So, can anyone tell me how to apply for a student visa renew without losing my study permit status?

1. Follow the instructions here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp?countrySelect=CA#applications

Hello, Thanks for answer my question.

I am following the steps, but when filling out the application for visitor visa form, in the "visa requested field" there are just 2 options visitor visa and transit. That is the part that I am concern about. Because I am a full time student and when I apply for the first time to came to Canada, my expired visa says "Category S-1 - Student " it does not say " Visitor". Although I have my valid student permit is or is not a problem to have a visa as a visitor instead of a student visa.

Thanks so much for your help.. Really appreciate it.

You need a visitor visa. A TRV is a TRV, whether it says visitor, student or worker.

Hello everyone...! Thanks for your appreciate replays to my questions.
I am on the correct way or not? the thing is: I am already in Canada studing a full time program at BCIT, British Columbia. But in the forms that the system gave me to process the TRV on line, says that I have to fill the form " Application for Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) Made Outside of Canada (IMM5257) " . SO here is my question why the system is asking me to fill the form called "Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside of Canada" , instead Made inside of Canada. Or both are the same?
