Note that if you end up wanting you extend your visit from within Canada - you'll need to have a US passport. You may want to start the process of applying for one now. To the best of my knowledge you should be able to do this from within Canada.
Yes, thanks for the reminder. I have my passport book appointment set for the day I get back from this visit.

Yup. Another thing you don't want to say is "moving to Canada" or "live/living in Canada" and show up with a U-Haul of stuff before you get your PR.

And yes, keeping calm while answering questions is the key. Border officials pay just as much attention to how you respond as what you respond with. Sometimes they will fire off a bunch of rapid questions that seem so basic/stupid to us that we think "what's the point" but really they are studying our body language and nervousness than the answer.
